The Manager, Database Administration (DBA) will leadthe team responsible for the availability, performance, security, andintegrity of all critical production and non-production databases across theorganization. This leadership role is vital for maintaining the stability ofcore clinical, financial, and operational systems. The ideal candidatepossesses deep expertise in database technologies, stringent operationalmanagement skills, and critical experience managing sensitive healthcare datain a highly regulated environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee team workload, manage incident response, and ensureadherence to operational SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for databaseavailability.
- Conduct performance reviews, drive professional development,and ensure 24/7 on-call readiness for the DBA team.
- Define, implement, and maintain strategies for databasebackup, recovery, patching, and disaster recovery to ensure businesscontinuity.
- Oversee proactive performance monitoring, tuning, andoptimization of all database systems (query optimization, indexing,capacity planning).
- Manage database sprawl, licensing compliance, and costefficiency across on-premise and cloud environments.
- Standardize and automate routine database administration tasksand maintenance scripts.
- Ensure all database environments and data access protocolsstrictly comply with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA andorganizational security policies.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of robust databasesecurity controls, including encryption, access control lists, auditing,and role-based security.
- Collaborate with Information Security teams on vulnerabilityassessments and remediation plans specific to database platforms.
- Participate in defining the future-state databasearchitecture, including migration to cloud-native database services (e.g.,Azure SQL DB, AWS RDS, Snowflake).
- Provide expert guidance to development and application teamson data modeling, efficient query design, and proper use of databasefeatures.
- Manage vendor relationships and technology roadmaps for keydatabase platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, DB2mainframes, PostgreSQL).

- Proven experience managing databases (both operational andanalytical) within the US Healthcare Domain, including knowledge of EHR/EMRdatabase structures.
