Job summary

Applied Materials India is seeking an experienced procurement leader to drive supplier selection, cost control, and contract management for global supply chains. The role emphasizes strong SAP ERP usage, P2P processes, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years in procurement, including 5 years in people management, and a background in engineering components and OEM commodities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred (Mech/Electrical).
  • 10+ years experience with minimum 5 years in people management.

Responsibilities

  • Direct activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives.
  • Evaluate vendor reliability and survey vendors to maintain relationships.
  • Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
  • Develop policies and procedures for procurement activities.
  • Monitor cost, schedule and performance of major subcontracts.
  • Experience as engineering buyer using SAP ERP tools.
  • Process purchase requisitions, changes, RFQs, and communicate with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives.
  • Evaluate vendor reliability; oversee the surveying of vendors to maintain adequate working relationships.
  • Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities.
  • Monitor the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major subcontracts.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP MM and Excel.
  • Have global supply chain experience with Built‑to‑Print and OEM commodities.
  • Experience in project/volume purchasing for production.
  • Strong experience in people management; experienced managing P2P.
  • Experience as an engineering buyer specifically using SAP ERP tools.
  • Process purchase requisitions, change orders, requests for quotes to suppliers, and communicate regularly with direct conversations, email, and joint meetings to ensure deliverables.
  • PO management per MRP signal changes; follow‑up on orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.
  • Receipt management.
  • Knowledge on shortage management – expedite process.
  • Responsible for procurement business systems data input and integrity such as lead time and cost.
  • Vendor analysis, making comparisons, cost savings, negotiation etc.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree – Preferable Engineering (Mech/ Electrical).

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Recommends changes to unit or sub‑unit policies. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.

  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
Problem Solving
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
Impact
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules.
