Job summary

Anaplan Inc is seeking a hands-on GenAI engineering leader in India to build and guide a 7-10 person GenAI team. You’ll drive the conversational and agentic AI roadmap, while staying hands-on to solve complex technical problems.

You’ll oversee end-to-end delivery, set engineering best practices, and collaborate with product and platform teams to ensure scalable, high-quality AI features across the Anaplan platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years leading engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI applications in production.
• Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and conversational AI patterns.
• Experience with agentic frameworks and autonomous agent architectures.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices (testing, code review, CI/CD).
• Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects on time with high quality.
• Strong project management skills with experience using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

• Lead sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives to ensure velocity and quality.
• Collaborate with AI Solutions Architects to translate architectural vision into executable plans.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for GenAI apps with automated testing and prompt regression suites.
• Coordinate with platform teams to integrate AI features with core infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers, manage technical debt, and recruit top talent.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands‑on engineering leader to build and lead our GenAI engineering team. You'll drive execution of our conversational AI and agentic AI roadmap, managing a team of talented engineers while remaining hands‑on yourself. This role requires both exceptional leadership skills and the ability to roll up your sleeves and solve complex

technical problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 7-10 GenAI engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and delivery
• Drive end-to-end execution of conversational AI features that enable users to interact with Anaplan models through n atural language
• Oversee development of agentic AI systems that can autonomously analyze data, generate insights, and execute planning workflows
• Own the team's delivery roadmap, working closely with product management to prioritize features and manage technical trade‑offs
• Establish engineering best practices for GenAI development including testing strategies, evaluation frameworks and deployment patterns
• Lead sprint planning, technical design reviews, and retrospectives to ensure consistent delivery velocity and quality
• Collaborate with AI Solutions Architects to translate architectural vision into executable engineering plans
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for GenAI applications, including automated testing and prompt regression suites
• Partner with platform teams to ensure AI features integrate seamlessly with Anaplan's core infrastructure
• Manage technical debt, refactoring initiatives, and platform improvements while maintaining feature delivery momentumRecruit and onboard top engineering talent, conducting technical interviews and building a diverse, high‑performing team
• Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years leading engineering teams
• Strong hands‑on experience building and deploying GenAI applications in production
• Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and conversational AI patterns
• Experience with agentic frameworks and autonomous agent architectures
• Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices (testing, code review, CI/CD)
• Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects on time with high quality
• Strong project management skills with experience using Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build cohesive, productive teams
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in fast‑growing startups or enterprise software companies
• Knowledge of financial planning, analytics, or business intelligence domains
• Experience with RAG systems, vector databases, and semantic search
• Familiarity with model fine‑tuning, evaluation, and continuous improvement workflows
• Background in distributed systems, microservices, or cloud‑native architectures
• Experience with TypeScript/React for full‑stack AI applications
• Track record of improving engineering velocity and team productivity metrics
