Job summary

Crossing Hurdles is seeking a detail-oriented QA lead to oversee Malayalam language quality across AI training projects. You will review content, provide actionable feedback, and ensure adherence to project rubrics and style guides.

The role requires native or near-native Malayalam, strong English, and experience coordinating remote trainers and QAs via Discord, Google Sheets, and other collaboration tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Malayalam, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance or related field preferred.
• Native or near-native Malayalam proficiency with strong reading and writing ability.
• Strong English proficiency to follow detailed guidelines and communicate with remote teams.
• Experience in Malayalam writing/editing/translation, localization, or QA workflows.
• Deep understanding of Malayalam grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone and terminology.
• Ability to evaluate content against rubrics and identify mistranslation or inconsistent terminology.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, or QA contributors.

Responsibilities

• Respond to questions involving Malayalam wording, context, and formatting.
• Track participation, follow up with inactive contributors, and flag availability issues.
• Create and update Malayalam project documentation and onboarding materials.
• Schedule onboarding and training sessions on workflows and rubrics.
• Ensure adherence to Malayalam language guidelines as projects evolve.
• Monitor quality patterns and recommend workflow or training improvements.
• Support scalable QA processes through feedback, calibration, and documentation.
• Help ensure Malayalam AI data is natural, accurate, and aligned with client expectations.

• Review AI-generated Malayalam content, trainer submissions, and QA work against project-specific guidelines, rubrics, and quality standards
• Evaluate content for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, formatting, and terminology consistency
• Spot-check Malayalam items and identify issues involving mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, inconsistent terminology, or rubric non-compliance
• Provide precise, actionable written feedback to trainers and QAs to improve language quality, evaluation consistency, and project adherence
• Escalate recurring, critical, or high-impact quality issues and support timely resolution across remote contributor teams
• Communicate new item guidelines, project changes, workflow updates, quality expectations, and Malayalam-specific language guidance through Discord and other project channels
• Respond clearly and promptly to trainer and QA questions involving Malayalam wording, register, translation fidelity, cultural context, Kerala usage, diaspora usage, formatting, and language edge cases
• Track trainer and QA participation, follow up with inactive contributors, encourage activation, and flag availability issues when needed
• Create, maintain, and update Malayalam project documentation, including style guides, FAQs, trackers, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials
• Schedule and conduct onboarding and training sessions covering project workflows, evaluation rubrics, quality standards, and Malayalam-specific style requirements
• Ensure trainers and QAs apply Malayalam language guidelines consistently as projects, client expectations, and task requirements evolve
• Monitor recurring quality patterns and recommend workflow, documentation, rubric, or training improvements
• Support the development of scalable QA processes for Malayalam-language projects through structured feedback, calibration, documentation, and quality monitoring
• Help ensure Malayalam AI training data is natural, accurate, culturally appropriate, well-documented, and aligned with client expectations
• Support AI model improvement through quality reviews, trainer coaching, LLM evaluation, response analysis, and structured QA documentation

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor s or Master s degree in Malayalam, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred
• Native or near-native Malayalam proficiency, with strong reading and writing ability required
• Strong English proficiency, with the ability to follow detailed project guidelines, communicate with remote teams, and provide clear written feedback
• Strong working experience in Malayalam writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows
• Deep understanding of Malayalam grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, tone, register, regional variation, cultural context, and terminology
• Ability to evaluate Malayalam content against detailed rubrics and identify mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, and inconsistent terminology
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QA contributors strongly preferred
• Strong communication, coaching, organization, and quality-management skills
• Experience creating and maintaining style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, honeypots, quality notes, and other project documentation preferred
• Comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project-management systems
• Strong analytical judgment when evaluating AI-generated content, contributor quality, rubric adherence, and recurring workflow gaps
• Previous experience with AI data training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, translation QA, or rubric-based LLM QA strongly preferred
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, or similar platforms preferred
• Reliable remote-work practices, confidentiality handling, self-direction, and consistency across structured quality workflows required
