JOB DESCRIPTION MAINTENANCE HEAD (PYROLYSIS UNIT)

Reporting To: Plant Head / Operations Head
Experience: 8-15 Years
JOB PURPOSE
To lead and manage mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and utility maintenance of the pyrolysis plant, ensuring maximum equipment availability, safe operation, minimum breakdowns and uninterrupted production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and supervise preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure reliable operation of pyrolysis reactors, heating systems, condensers, cooling systems, pumps, compressors, blowers, conveyors, feeders and gas/oil handling systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain motors, gearboxes, MCC/control panels, electrical systems, PLC/SCADA and instrumentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and annual preventive maintenance schedules.
- Identify recurring failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent repeat breakdowns.
- Maintain equipment history, breakdown records, maintenance checklists and KPI reports.
- Prepare and maintain critical spare-parts lists and coordinate with Stores/Purchase for timely availability.
- Lead and supervise mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technicians and allocate manpower effectively.
- Ensure proper LOTO, work permits, PPE and maintenance safety procedures are followed.
- Coordinate emergency breakdown maintenance and minimize production downtime.
- Monitor calibration and proper functioning of temperature, pressure, level and flow instruments.
- Coordinate AMC/vendor/service activities and statutory maintenance requirements.
- Control maintenance costs without compromising equipment reliability and safety.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and train maintenance personnel in safe working practices.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 8-15 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience in pyrolysis, tyre recycling, oil & gas, chemical, rubber or continuous-process plants is highly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Good knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, valves, pipelines and rotating equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC/SCADA and industrial instrumentation.
- Good understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Strong leadership, team management and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during emergency breakdowns.
