• Plant & facility maintenance for tissue culture labs and aeroponic production units.
• Maintain HVAC, chillers, refrigeration, pumps, actuators, sensors, and automation equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC/SCADA systems and ensure proper logging, alarms, and reporting.
• Preventive and predictive maintenance with KPI tracking (uptime, MTBF, MTTR, cost).
• Safety compliance, risk assessments, LOTO, and contractor supervision.
• Budgeting, spare parts planning, and vendor management for maintenance works.
• Drive process improvements, energy efficiency, and reliability initiatives.

Position Purpose

The Maintenance Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring optimum performance, reliability, and availability of all facility infrastructure, utilities, automation systems, and equipment associated with tissue culture laboratories, aeroponic production units, greenhouse operations, and cold storage facilities. The role requires strong technical expertise in PLC, SCADA, HVAC systems, chillers, refrigeration, electrical systems, automation, and preventive maintenance management.

The incumbent must demonstrate independent problem-solving capability, strong execution skills, innovation, and a proactive approach toward operational excellence while fostering a strong safety culture throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant & Facility Maintenance

• Ensure uninterrupted operation of:
  • Tissue Culture Laboratories
  • Aeroponic Production Systems
  • Potato Cold Storage Facilities (2C Storage)
  • Greenhouses with Fan & Pad Cooling Systems
  • Irrigation and Fertigation Systems
  • Utility Infrastructure
• Maintain high equipment uptime and reliability.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation failures.
• Minimize downtime through proactive maintenance strategies.

2. Automation, PLC & SCADA Management

• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
• Monitor and optimize SCADA systems for operational efficiency.
• Ensure proper logging, alarm management, trending, and reporting.
• Coordinate PLC program modifications and system upgrades where required.
• Analyse control system data to identify opportunities for operational improvement.

3. HVAC, Chillers & Refrigeration Systems

• Ensure efficient operation of:
  • HVAC Systems
  • Chillers
  • Air Handling Units (AHUs)
  • Cold Room Refrigeration Systems
  • Temperature & Humidity Control Systems
• Maintain critical environmental parameters required for:
  • Tissue Culture Operations
  • Greenhouse Production
  • Aeroponic Facilities
  • Potato Cold Storage
• Monitor energy consumption and implement efficiency improvement initiatives.

4. Greenhouse & Aeroponic Infrastructure Maintenance

• Maintain fan and pad cooling systems.
• Maintain ventilation systems, pumps, motors, valves, sensors, and controllers.
• Ensure functionality of fertigation and irrigation automation systems.
• Support continuous operation of aeroponic root-zone environmental control systems.

5. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and utilities.
• Maintain equipment history records and maintenance logs.
• Establish predictive maintenance practices using failure analysis and equipment performance trends.
• Ensure periodic inspections and maintenance compliance.
• Monitor maintenance KPIs including:
• Equipment Uptime
• MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)
• MTTR (Mean Time to Repair)
• Maintenance Cost Efficiency

6. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture.
• Ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration safety standards.
• Conduct risk assessments before maintenance activities.
• Implement Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Ensure safe work practices for contractors and employees.
• Participate in safety audits and compliance inspections.
• Lead initiatives for incident prevention and hazard elimination.

• Drive automation and process improvement projects.

8. Team & Vendor Management

• Coordinate with internal operations, production, and quality teams.

• Develop annual maintenance budgets and control maintenance expenditures.
