Job summary

Codenatives in Chennai seeks an experienced mainframe developer with 5-10 years hands-on COBOL, JCL, VSAM and DB2. You will design, code, unit test, turn over, implement, and support changes, and you should be comfortable with the full lifecycle from code to deploy.

Familiarity with CICS/MQ is a plus, and WFO five days. Strong analytical, communication, and agile experience are required to collaborate with product owners and peers.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Combination of COBOL, JCL, and VSAM with DB2 resources need to be strong developers.

Requirements:

• Ability to design, code, unit test, turn over, implement, and support the changes.
• Writing and executing the unit test scenarios/cases to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Deep understanding of all lifecycle components (code, test, deploy)
• Ability to present designs to peers and the product owner for approval.
• Troubleshooting and debugging code to resolve technical issues.
• Optimizing application performance to ensure efficient use of software resources.
• Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Process Skills: Should have worked in an Agile project.
• Behavioral Skills: Good communication skills.

Technical Skills:

• 5 to 10 years of hands-on development experience.
• Very good hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2 mainframe utilities.
• Strong coding experience in COBOL, JCL, and DB2 VSAM.
• Work experience in the CICS/MQ series.
• Strong analytical skills to analyze complex code independently and extract business rules.
• Willingness to WFO (5 days WFO) (No WFH).
• JAVA / JSON will be added as an advantage.
