Qualifications

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Storage Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. This critical role involves administering and managing complex z/OS storage environments, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and robust data integrity for our mission‑critical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day operations of the z/OS storage infrastructure, including EMC/Dell EMC mainframe disk subsystems and enterprise tape library systems. Key responsibilities include configuring and supporting storage replication solutions (SRDF) for disaster recovery, performing disk initialization, reorganization, and space management activities, and maintaining and updating SMS definitions (Storage Groups, Classes, ACS routines) across multiple LPARs. You will proactively monitor and automate space allocation, analyze and optimize I/O performance using RMF/SMF, and maintain DFSMS components and related storage utilities. The role also involves implementing and supporting comprehensive backup, archive, and disaster recovery procedures, including regular DR testing, as well as troubleshooting and resolving high‑severity storage incidents. Coordination with storage vendors and internal teams to resolve technical issues and escalations is essential. We are looking for a professional who can provision, configure, and manage mainframe disk resources, design and maintain policy‑driven storage allocation through SMS constructs, and ensure reliable media management and data retention compliance.
