Chubb India is actively seeking an experienced Mainframe Technical Lead – Application Support to orchestrate production support for Billing applications. The role emphasizes deep mainframe expertise (COBOL/JCL/DB2/CICS/VSAM) with Java experience and a willingness to explore AI tools.

You will mentor the team, drive quality, and partner with onshore/offshore stakeholders while contributing to modernization efforts in a dynamic insurance tech environment.

Qualifications

• 10–14 years of experience in mainframe application support (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM).
• Advanced proficiency in Java, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM; strong debugging skills with FileAid, Xpeditor, Abend-Aid.

Responsibilities

• Lead billing production support by monitoring task performance, coaching team members, and providing feedback to developers and onshore peers.
• Quality Control: Assist in identifying and resolving defects; ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Problem Solving: First point of escalation for offshore team and primary contact for business users; assist with solutions.
• Training and Development: Use KT docs to train new staff and cross-train existing team members.
• Process Improvement: Suggest improvements that increase efficiency and system stability.
• Investigate root causes for recurring issues and propose preventive actions.
• Analyze business process flows and identify gaps in mainframe applications.
• Maintain incident logs, RCA documents, and functional SOPs.
• Provide timely updates to users and stakeholders on incident status.
• Prepare and share reports on incident trends, SLA compliance, and functional health.
• Document issues, resolutions, and workarounds in the knowledge base.
• Participate in modernization initiatives and AI tool integrations.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Application Support specialist with 10–14 years of handson expertise in Java, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS & VSAM to support Billing Applications. The ideal candidate should be open to learning new technologies and AI tools.

• Participate in modernization initiatives and explore integration with new technologies and AI tools.

Skills & Experience:

• 10–14 years of experience in mainframe application support (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM).
• Advanced proficiency in Java, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• Expert skills in debugging and troubleshooting tools such as FileAid, Xpeditor, and Abend-Aid.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools and production control.
• Proficiency in software configuration/change management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Expert at writing complex SQL queries and using database tools like SPUFI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.
