Job summary

CGI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in mainframe development. You will work on COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2 in a 3-5 year experience band, contributing to end-to-end development tasks within an Agile environment.

The role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication with stakeholders, and hands-on experience with mainframe utilities and tools. Location includes Hyderabad/Bangalore, with a full-time, in-office setup.

Qualifications

• 35 years of strong hands-on experience in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS DB/DC, SORT and mainframe utilities.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) with user stories, sprints and Jira/Rally/Confluence.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail; ability to interact with stakeholders.

35 years of strong hands‑on experience in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS DB/DC , SORT, and mainframe utilities (IDCAMS, FILE-AID, TSO/ISPF, etc.) Proven ability to work independently on end-to-end development tasks with minimal guidance. Solid experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban), including user stories, sprint deliverables, and tools like Jira/Rally/Confluence Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) able to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, document clearly, and present solutions Good understanding of mainframe concepts: VSAM, GDG, datasets and abend handling Experience with version control/change management tools (Endevor/ChangeMan/ISpw) and testing/debug tools (Xpediter/InterTest).
