Job summary

Kyndryl is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 System Programmer in Bengaluru to install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM DB2 for z/OS, plan migrations, and apply maintenance using SMP/E.

You will analyze issues, automate tasks, support data sharing and coupling facility environments, and contribute to long‑range IT infrastructure planning across multiple platforms. This role offers a hybrid culture with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong Experience in Mainframe DB2 System Programming.
• Experience and Expertise in Monoplex, SYSPLEX architecture and data sharing architecture.
• Experience in DB2 subsystem setup - both Stand‑alone and data sharing.
• Experience in DB2 backup and recovery scenarios - traditional image copy, FLASH, mirroring etc., methodology.
• Experience in REXX/CLIST and ISPF programming skills.
• Good knowledge on transactional environment like CICS, IMS architecture and interface with DB2.
• DB2 Data sharing skills - Installation, customization, DB2 structures, CFRM policy, DB2 CF recovery, Data sharing locking mechanism etc.
• Experience and good exposure to SMP/E process.
• Experience and Expertise on software migration and maintenance procedures - Install, backout, re‑migration process - DB2 V9, V10, and V11.
• Good Knowledge on DB2 Health check, DB2 security and Patch management.
• Good knowledge and experience on DB2 traces, SMF, RMF and WLM.
• Good Knowledge on z/OS and DB2 system performance tuning methods.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute DB2 version migrations, function‑level activations, and subsystem upgrades
• Apply maintenance, PTFs, APARs, RSU updates, and security fixes using SMP/E.
• Administer and support Data Sharing, Sysplex, Group Buffer Pools, and Coupling Facility environments.
• Monitor and optimize DB2 system performance, storage utilization, and database availability.
• Manage backup, recovery, cloning, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity activities.

The Role

As a Mainframe DB2 System Programmer at Kyndryl are project‑based subject matter experts in all things infrastructure – good at providing analysis, documenting and diagraming work for hand‑off, offering timely solutions, and generally “figuring it out.” This is a hands‑on role where your feel for the interaction between a system and its environment will be invaluable to every one of your clients. • DB2 Cloning process - IBM DB2 Cloning Tool or any customized in‑house Tools.
• Good knowledge on SYSPLEX, data sharing and distributed problem‑solving skills.
• Experience in problem debugging and Vendor specific PMR ticketing procedure.
