Job summary

HSBC Software Development India is seeking a Senior Consultant Specialist with 10–15 years of hands-on mainframe experience in CICS, DB2, COBOL and JCL. The role focuses on secure, scalable design and agile delivery within Corporate Payments projects.

The position requires strong leadership to mentor juniors, coordinate cross-team work, and drive low-level design while maintaining coding excellence and timely delivery across distributed environments.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of hands-on mainframe experience with CICS, DB2, COBOL and JCL.
• Experience in Real Time Payment ISO processing and related maintenance.
• Hands-on development and mainframe tooling; leading design on medium to large projects.
• Agile experience; able to work under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of production issues and quick resolutions.
• Domain knowledge on Corporate Payments; BE/MCA or equivalent degree.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

• Need to possess very good technical acumen (hands-on) related to and not limited to CICS, DB2, COBOL, JCL
• Ability to perform low level design based on the solutions and drafting a few pseudos-code where applicable
• Ensure design caters to all futuristic needs in terms of technology / scalability / robust and performance aspects.
• Need to be able to drive the pods technically towards a secured coding pattern. Possess the ability to be able to handle changes in the requirement in an agile environment.
• Should be considering all aspects of Alerting / recovery and monitoring in the low-level design
• Ensure code reviews are accurate and able to exhibit artefacts when challenged. Act as a subject matter expert for junior members of the team.
• Possess firm and unbiased communication skills. Can challenge any solutions in related forums and provide with better/proven alternatives.
• Documents and demonstratesend to end design by creating high- and low-level design
• Should be willing to go hands-on frequently and showcase best coding standards to the pods
• Effectively co-ordinate delivery of services involving elements delivered by other internal/external teams.

To be successful, you will:

• 10-15 years of hands-on experience on CICS, DB2, COBOL, JCL.
• Functional knowledge in Real Time Payment, ISO processing and related maintenance activities.
• Handson experience in development and mainframe tooling. Leading Development and Design of medium to large projects
• Proven track record of delivering complex programs. Driving teams towards futuristic technologies. Have experience in working on Agile ways.
• Demonstrate experience in working under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrate handling production issues towards quick resolutions or workarounds
• Ensuring learning culture s nurtured within teams. Ability to manage globally distributed, multi-site teams and delegate work
• Proven experience in managing technical team. Domain knowledge on Corporate Payments.BE or MCA or equivalent Degree
