Job summary

Role Description

The MAG Welder & Helper role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The MAG Welder will perform metal active gas (MAG) welding on stainless steel and other metals, read and interpret technical drawings, prepare workpieces, set up welding equipment, and complete high-quality welds according to specifications. The Helper will assist with material handling, basic preparation of components, cleaning and finishing of welded parts, and maintaining tools and work areas. Both team members are expected to follow safety procedures, support fabrication tasks, coordinate with supervisors and colleagues, and help meet production targets while maintaining consistent quality.

Qualifications

• Practical welding skills, including experience with MAG welding, basic knowledge of other welding techniques, and safe handling of welding equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings or simple fabrication sketches, measure accurately, and prepare materials and joints for welding.
• Experience in metal fabrication or workshop environments, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and finishing of metal components.
• Strong focus on workplace safety, using appropriate personal protective equipment, and following established safety guidelines and procedures.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials, and work in a production or workshop setting.
• Basic communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions, coordinate with supervisors, and support colleagues on the shop floor.
• Prior experience as a welder or helper in a fabrication or industrial setting is preferred; vocational training or certification in welding or fabrication is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn, adapt to different tasks, maintain punctuality, and contribute to continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
