Job summary

Valmet is seeking a logistics professional in Chennai to manage import/export transportation, bookings, and carrier coordination. You will ensure timely deliveries, control costs, and handle customs declarations in line with applicable laws and INCOTERMS.

Ideal candidates have logistics or related education, experience in transport bookings, and strong IT and English skills, with familiarity in international trade rules.

Qualifications

• Logistics or commercial education or related field.
• Experience from transport booking services.
• Knowledge of customs legislation (e.g., inward processing, Intrastat statistics).
• Familiarity with international delivery terms (INCOTERMS).
• Letter of Credit is seen as an advantage for the position.
• Proficiency in IT systems.
• Language skills: English is essential; other languages are considered an advantage.

Responsible transportation of import and export shipments to the correct location within the required timeframe. Handling customs clearance of shipments in accordance with country specific customs laws and regulations.

• The role requires continuous training and monitoring of international developments (e.g., changing national and international regulations, economic and political conditions, strikes, accidents, natural disasters, holidays), as well as geographical awareness
• Understanding of dangerous goods regulations
• Experience from ATA-carnet handling for temporary exports
• 5-7 years of experience in the relevant field.
