Job summary

NTT DATA seeks a seasoned Linux Systems Integration Specialist to join our Bengaluru team. You will manage large-scale Linux estates, automate with Ansible/Puppet/Chef, and orchestrate containers with Kubernetes/OpenShift in a hybrid cloud setup.

The role demands 8–10 years of Linux/Unix admin experience, strong scripting (Bash/Python), and proficiency in monitoring stacks, security, and ITIL-aligned incident/change management.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate (B. Tech/B.E./MCA or equivalent).
• 8 to 10 years of Linux/Unix system administration experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Linux OS (RHEL/Ubuntu/SUSE/Rocky) and kernel tuning, performance optimization.
• Hands-on automation experience with Ansible, Puppet or Chef; Bash and Python scripting.
• Cloud & hybrid infra experience with AWS/Azure/GCP; container orchestration with Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with Docker/Podman, monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Splunk) and SRE practices.
• Security, compliance (CIS, STIG, ISO, SOC2) and ITIL-based incident/change management.
• Leadership ability to mentor L1/L2 engineers and collaborate with DevOps teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead major incident handling (P1/P2), perform RCA and preventive actions.
• Design and implement scalable, highly available Linux environments.
• Drive CI/CD integration with DevOps, cloud and application teams.
• Guide governance, security hardening, and vulnerability management.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage stakeholder communications.

Job Description

• Educational Qualification:
  • Must be a graduate (B. Tech/B.E./MCA or equivalent).
• Experience:
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in Linux/Unix system administration in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Advanced Linux Administration:
  • Deep expertise in Linux OS (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE, Rocky).
  • Strong knowledge of kernel tuning, performance optimization, system internals, and capacity planning.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting complex production issues.
• Automation & Configuration Management:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Ansible / Puppet / Chef for configuration management and automation.
  • Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Experience in building reusable automation frameworks.
• Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure:
  • Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS / Azure / GCP).
  • Experience managing Linux workloads in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Understanding of cloud-native services, IAM, networking, and storage.
• Containers & Orchestration:
  • Strong working knowledge of Docker / Podman.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes / OpenShift administration and troubleshooting.
• Monitoring, Observability & Reliability:
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack, Splunk or similar tools.
  • Exposure to SRE practices (SLI/SLO, alerting, incident response, error budgets).
  • Ability to implement proactive monitoring and improve system reliability.
• Security & Compliance:
  • Strong understanding of Linux security, hardening, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with compliance standards (CIS, STIG, ISO, SOC2) and audit support.
• Incident, Problem & Change Management:
  • Lead major incident handling (P1/P2), perform RCA, and implement preventive measures.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL practices and governance.
• System Design & Implementation:
  • Ability to design and implement scalable, highly available Linux environments.
  • Experience in migrations, upgrades, and data center/cloud transformations.
• Collaboration & DevOps Integration:
  • Work closely with DevOps, application, and cloud teams for CI/CD integration.
  • Exposure to tools like Jenkins, Git, Terraform is desirable.
• UNIX & Legacy Systems (Optional):
  • Knowledge of AIX/Solaris for legacy system support is an added advantage.
• Certifications:
  • RHCE/RHCA, LFCS/LFCE, or Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) preferred.
• Soft Skills & Leadership:
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor L1/L2 engineers and guide technical teams.
  • Ownership mindset with strong analytical and decision-making ability.

• Willing to work in rotational shifts / on-call support in a 24x7 environment.
