Fourth Dimension Technologies in Madurai seeks a Linux Server Administrator to handle day-to-day server operations across multiple distributions, web server support, and basic database tasks.
You'll automate routine work with shell scripts and Ansible, monitor health with Nagios or Zabbix, and enforce security, backup, and recovery procedures. This role requires at least 3 years of experience and is open to male candidates only, with a 6-day work week on site in Madurai.
Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance of Linux servers including installation, configuration, service management, monitoring, patching, and basic troubleshooting across distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, Rocky Linux, and AlmaLinux.
Install, configure, and maintain web servers such as Apache HTTP Server and Nginx. Perform basic database administration activities for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB, including database creation, user management, service monitoring, scheduled backups, and basic backup restoration testing.
Configure and maintain FTP and SFTP services using tools such as vsftpd and OpenSSH. Manage users, authentication, directory permissions, access restrictions, and troubleshoot basic file-transfer issues.
Create and maintain Linux users and groups, configure file and directory permissions, manage sudo access, and ensure users are provided with appropriate access based on approved requirements.
Develop basic shell scripts to automate routine Linux administration activities. Execute and maintain basic Ansible playbooks for configuration management and repetitive administrative tasks.
Monitor server availability, CPU, memory, disk utilization, services, logs, and application health using monitoring tools such as Nagios and Zabbix. Investigate alerts, perform initial troubleshooting, resolve known issues, and elevate complex incidents when required.
Perform basic security activities including firewall configuration using firewalld/UFW, SSH configuration, SSH-key authentication, account security, disabling unnecessary services, applying approved security patches, and implementing documented Linux hardening standards.
Configure and monitor scheduled backups using tools such as rsync and cron. Verify backup completion, perform basic restoration testing, and participate in recovery activities according to documented backup and disaster-recovery procedures.
Perform basic Docker administration including managing images and containers, starting/stopping containers, checking container logs, monitoring container status, and supporting basic application deployments.
Linux Networking: Configure and troubleshoot network interfaces, IP addresses, gateways, routing tables, DNS settings, hostname resolution, and basic TCP/IP connectivity issues.
Perform initial troubleshooting of Linux server, service, application, storage, network, and performance-related incidents. Resolve known issues using documented procedures and elevate complex problems to Level 2/Level 3 teams when required.
Maintain Linux server inventory, asset information, configuration records, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting documents, backup records, and other operational documentation.
