Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our Hyderabad/Bangalore teams. The role focuses on Linux platform troubleshooting, Python and Shell automation, and AI-assisted engineering workflows within build systems and CI/CD pipelines.

The candidate will work across multiple engineering and infrastructure groups to resolve complex issues, optimize deployment processes, and enhance operational efficiency using automation and AI tools.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting expertise with the ability to understand and debug end-to-end system environments.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including processes, services, networking, storage, file systems, permissions, authentication, and performance analysis.
• Proven experience diagnosing complex Linux platform, infrastructure, and application issues in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Experience with build systems and software development workflows, including build troubleshooting and optimization.

Technical Expertise

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting expertise with the ability to understand and debug end-to-end system environments.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including processes, services, networking, storage, file systems, permissions, authentication, and performance analysis.
• Proven experience diagnosing complex Linux platform, infrastructure, and application issues in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Experience with build systems and software development workflows, including build troubleshooting and optimization.

Scripting & Automation

• Scripting skills in Shell (Bash/Tcsh) for automation, system administration, and operational efficiency.
• Experience developing automation solutions using Python.
• Ability to design, implement, and maintain self-service tools and operational automation frameworks.
• Experience integrating automation into infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring workflows.

CI/CD & DevOps

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build orchestration, release automation, and deployment processes.
• Knowledge of source control systems (Git) and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience troubleshooting build, integration, deployment, and release-related issues.

AI & Productivity Tools

• Practical experience leveraging AI tools (Copilot, LLMs, automation assistants, etc.) to improve engineering productivity, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency.
• Ability to identify opportunities for AI-driven automation and workflow optimization.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
• Ability to work across multiple engineering and infrastructure teams to resolve complex issues.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document findings, solutions, and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting developer platforms, build infrastructure, or compute environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms, virtualization, containers, and infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Splunk or similar platforms.
