Job summary

Prodapt is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to join the infrastructure and network engineering team. The role focuses on deploying, implementing, and supporting secure Linux-based platforms across enterprise and data centre environments, with a strong emphasis on NixOS and immutable OS platforms.

You will work on configuring Linux-based networking and security services, firewall solutions with nftables, and integration with enterprise firewall platforms across complex networks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on Linux administration and engineering experience.
• Experience with NixOS and GUIX or other immutable Linux operating systems.
• Experience deploying and managing Linux in enterprise data centre environments.
• Knowledge of Linux networking, security zoning, and firewall technologies.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and support enterprise Linux servers across production and non-production environments.
• Implement and manage Linux OS platforms including NixOS, RHEL, GUIX and other immutable OSes.
• Deploy and configure Linux-based networking and security services.
• Implement Linux firewall solutions using nftables and stateful firewalls.
• Configure Linux networking (Layer 2, routing, VLANs, security zoning).
• Support deployment and integration of enterprise firewall platforms (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point).
• Implement and troubleshoot Linux security controls, host hardening, and network segmentation.
• Configure and support Cilium for Kubernetes networking and security.
• Deploy Suricata IDS/IPS and Zeek monitoring solutions (preferred).
• Perform Linux system upgrades, patching, migrations, and implementation activities.
• Troubleshoot OS, networking, firewall, and security issues.
• Collaborate with Network, Security, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams during project delivery.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Participate in change management activities during maintenance windows.
• Ensure Linux environments comply with security policies and standards.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to join our infrastructure and network engineering team, responsible for deploying, implementing, and supporting secure Linux-based platforms within enterprise and data centre environments. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and a strong background in network security, firewall technologies, and infrastructure deployment.

This role requires expertise in NixOS, with experience in RHEL, GUIX, or other immutable operating systems. The successful candidate will also have strong knowledge of Linux networking, security zoning, stateful firewalls, and packet filtering technologies such as nftables. Experience with Cilium and Zeek is highly desirable, while exposure to Suricata will be considered an advantage.

• Experience implementing Linux networking and security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of:

• Experience integrating Linux environments with enterprise firewall platforms, including:

• Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Cilium for cloud-native networking and security.
• Experience deploying or administering Suricata IDS/IPS.
• Experience using Zeek for network traffic analysis and security monitoring.Knowledge of container platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with Linux automation and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack).
• Scripting experience using:
