Job summary

Persistent is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to manage Linux servers, Oracle databases, and production support across hybrid Hyderabad Bengaluru operations.

The role demands 8–12 years of hands-on expertise with Red Hat/CentOS/Oracle Linux, Oracle DB administration, SQL/PL-SQL tuning, and incident management. You’ll collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and performance of critical applications.

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years of experience in Linux Administration, Oracle Database Administration, and Production Support.
• Hands-on expertise with Linux operating systems (RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux) and Oracle DB.
• Strong SQL/PLSQL development, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with automation, incident and change management, and DR/HA concepts.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux servers across production, development, testing, and DR environments.
• Monitor performance, health, capacity, and application availability.
• Manage Oracle databases: installation, configuration, backup, recovery, patching, and routine admin.
• Write and optimize SQL/PLSQL queries for application and DB support.

About Position:

We are looking for a skilled Linux Administrator with strong expertise in Linux Administration, SQL, and Oracle Database. The ideal candidate will be responsible for server administration, database support, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and ensuring high availability of business-critical applications and database environments. What You'll Do:

• Administer, maintain, and support Linux servers across production, development, testing, and disaster recovery environments.
• Monitor server performance, system health, capacity utilization, and application availability.
• Manage Oracle databases including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, patching, and routine administration.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL and PL/SQL queries for application and database support activities.
• Analyze and resolve server, application, database, and infrastructure-related incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive and corrective measures.
• Manage user accounts, access controls, file systems, permissions, and security configurations within Linux environments.
• Support application deployments, release management, and production maintenance activities.
• Monitor database performance and recommend tuning improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure backup and recovery procedures are implemented, tested, and maintained for business continuity.
• Collaborate with application developers, database administrators, and infrastructure teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, support procedures, and knowledge repositories.
• Proactively identify risks, vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks and recommend remediation plans.
• Ensure adherence to organizational standards, security policies, and operational processes.
• Participate in on-call support and critical incident management activities when required.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 8 to 12 years of experience in Linux Administration, Oracle Database Administration, and Production Support.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Linux operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Oracle Linux, or similar platforms.
• Extensive experience with Oracle Database administration, monitoring, backup, recovery, patching, and troubleshooting.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Shell Scripting for automation, monitoring, and operational support activities.
• Knowledge of Linux server performance tuning, resource management, and capacity planning.
• Experience in incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with database backup and recovery processes using Oracle recovery tools and methodologies.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications in enterprise production environments.
• Strong understanding of system monitoring, logging, and performance management tools.
• Knowledge of high-availability and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience working with change management and release management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional support teams.
