Job summary

UST is seeking an experienced Liferay Consultant in Bengaluru to design, develop, customize, integrate, deploy, and support scalable Liferay-based portal applications. You will work on Liferay DXP/CE, REST/SOAP integrations, and frontend technologies, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver robust portal solutions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on Liferay experience, strong Java/J2EE skills, and familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and database technologies.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of overall software/web development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Liferay DXP / Liferay Portal.
• Minimum 3+ years in Liferay DXP/CE.
• Strong knowledge of Liferay architecture, development, customization and administration.
• Hands-on with Liferay DXP, Portal, Service Builder, Portlet APIs, Themes, Templates, Hooks and EXT Plugins.
• Strong Java/J2EE, Spring and Hibernate knowledge.
• Experience with REST APIs, SOAP, Web Services and integrations.
• Liferay Roles, Permissions, Organizations, User Management, Workflow, Assets, Staging, Site/Page Management.
• Frontend: HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, JSP, FreeMarker, AlloyUI; React a plus.
• Deployment with Tomcat/Apache; CI/CD pipelines and Git.
• Databases: MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL; Liferay data management.
• Agile development environment; Jira and Confluence familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable Liferay solutions.
• Design, develop, customize, and maintain Liferay DXP / Portal applications.
• Develop portal components including Themes, Portlets, Hooks, EXT Plugins, and Service Builder modules.
• Leverage Liferay OOTB features to reduce custom development and improve maintainability.
• Implement REST/SOAP integrations with external systems and services.
• Ensure security, accessibility, performance, and SEO for portal applications.
• Mentor junior developers and participate in code reviews and best practices.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Liferay Consultant with strong expertise in Liferay DXP, Liferay Portal, Java/J2EE, portal development, integrations, and web technologies. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, customizing, integrating, deploying, and supporting scalable Liferay-based portal applications.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Liferay DXP/CE, Liferay frameworks, portal administration, REST/SOAP integrations, frontend technologies, CI/CD, Git, and database technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into scalable Liferay solutions.
• Design, develop, customize, and maintain Liferay DXP / Liferay Portal applications.
• Develop and customize portal components including Themes, Portlets, Hooks, EXT Plugins, and Service Builder modules.
• Leverage Liferay out-of-the-box (OOTB) capabilities to minimize custom development and improve maintainability.
• Implement integrations between Liferay and external systems using REST, SOAP, Web Services, and other integration mechanisms.
• Work extensively with Liferay features including Organizations, Sites, Pages, Roles, Permissions, Workflow, User Management, Site Administration, Assets, Staging, and Page Management.
• Develop and maintain Liferay themes, templates, portlets, and frontend components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Optimize Liferay applications for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, development best practices, and security guidelines.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance within the team.
• Support deployment and administration of Liferay instances on application servers such as Tomcat, Apache, or other supported containers.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control for application development and deployment.
• Monitor Liferay releases, patches, upgrades, and security advisories and recommend appropriate updates.
• Ensure portal applications meet security, accessibility, performance, and SEO requirements.

Education
