Job summary

Evonik Industries India is seeking a mid-junior level lawyer with Tier 1 law firm exposure and 2-7 years PQE to join our legal function in India. This role will support commercial and contract matters, act as first point of contact for contract-related requests, and help manage templates, compliance, and regulatory documentation.

Initially on secondment with strong performance, the path may open to a full-time role within Evonik's global legal team.

Qualifications

• LL.B. required; LL.M. preferred.
• Admitted to the Bar Council of India.
• 2–7 years PQE with Tier 1 firm or in-house team.
• Strong expertise in commercial and contract law; anti-trust knowledge a plus.
• Fluent English in written and spoken form.
• Ability to work in a high-paced, compliant environment.
• Self-motivated, fast learner.

Role Overview

We are seeking a mid-junior level lawyer with Tier 1 law firm with 2-7 years of PQE experience to join our legal function in India. This position ensures that legal support and consultation are provided to the Evonik India region related to commercial/corporate law matter in accordance with global and regional guidelines. The role will serve as the first point of contact for all business line contract-related requests and legal administrative tasks, including but not limited to template management, compliance support, and regulatory documentation.

This position is designed as a growth opportunity: while initially on secondment, strong performance and seamless integration into the global legal team will open the path to a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of purchase and sale contracts in accordance with legal & signature policy.
• Act as the first point of contact to Evonik Business line colleagues for all legal operational matter related to contracts and legal administrative query.
• Act as a trusted partner to the regional Regional legal APAC W/O China/ Regional Senior Legal Singapore and ensure strong integrity, compliance with internal process and guidelines.
• Serve as the onsite representative for the broader Evonik regional and global legal teams, maintaining close coordination and alignment on key issues as they arise.
• Respond quickly and consistently to internal and external requests for advice but in accordance with guided policies and procedures
• Support legal administrative tasks, including template updates, document management, and compliance tracking.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and close collaboration with corporate secretarial team members for all 3 entities
• Stakeholder management in a compliant manner under high pressure or pace
• Ensure digitization of contracts in the region
• Proactive problem solver for legal issues in a compliant manner under the leadership of reporting manager
• Assist in regulatory filings, government submissions, and compliance-driven processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• LL.B. (mandatory); LL.M. preferred.
• Admitted to the Bar Council of India.
• 2-7 years of PQE experience of post-qualification experience with a Tier 1 law firm or in-house legal team.
• Strong expertise in commercial and contract law. knowledge of anti-trust laws is a plus
• Good understanding of Indian regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
• Fluent English language skills, written and spoken is a must.
• Core competencies require strong negotiation abilities, stakeholder management, and disciplined adherence to processes and policies.
• Able to work in a high-paced, high pressure environment in a compliant manner
• Self-motivated and a fast learner
