Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Leather Technology or related field is required.
• 10 years of relevant experience in leather goods, handbags, or similar manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of leather types, finishes, defects and applications.
• Experience in leather inspection, selection and quality evaluation.
• Exposure to premium/luxury leather goods manufacturing preferred.
• Good understanding of leather behavior during cutting, stitching and finishing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with Design, Development, Quality, Merchandising and Production teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage bulk and sample leather sourcing from Indian and overseas suppliers.
• Coordinate with Development, Production, Merchandising, QC and related teams.
• Communicate with overseas customers and provide technical solutions.
• Guide the leather sourcing team and monitor progress.
• Define leather selection and testing parameters with suppliers in line with SATRA standards.
• Conduct physical testing at tanneries and inspect leather for quality and requirements.
• Maintain records in line with SOPs and customer specs.
• Prepare and present weekly reports on delivery schedules and supplier performance.

At D2, you will work closely with experienced teams across Product Development, Design, Merchandising and Production, gaining exposure to international quality standards and the craftsmanship behind globally recognised products.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a technically strong Leather Technologist with hands-on experience in leather selection, evaluation and application for handbags and leather accessories. The role will be responsible for ensuring the right leather quality, finish, appearance and performance across products, while working closely with Product Development, Design, Quality and Production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage bulk and sample leather sourcing from Indian and overseas suppliers.
• Coordinate with Development, Production, Merchandising, QC and related teams to resolve leather-related queries and requirements.
• Communicate with overseas customers and provide technical solutions for leather-related requirements.
• Guide the leather sourcing team, monitor progress and resolve day-to-day issues.
• Define leather selection and testing parameters with suppliers in line with SATRA standards.
• Conduct physical testing at tanneries and inspect leather for quality, selection and customer requirements.
• Ensure testing is completed and maintain accurate records in line with SOPs and customer specifications.
• Prepare and present weekly reports on delivery schedules, supplier performance and sourcing status to management.

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor's/Diploma in Leather Technology or a related field.
• 10 years of relevant experience in leather goods, handbags, leather accessories or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of different leather types, finishes, defects and applications.
• Experience in leather inspection, selection and quality evaluation.
• Exposure to premium/luxury leather goods manufacturing will be preferred.
• Good understanding of leather behaviour during cutting, stitching, skiving and other manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work closely with Design, Product Development, Quality, Merchandising and Production teams.
