Teach For India is seeking a Lead, Talent Acquisition to build and run the staff hiring engine across regions, while converting Fellows and Alumni into leadership roles within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual staff hiring strategy and calendar for 9 Regions and central training roles.
  • Own sourcing strategy across channels—direct, referrals, campus, digital—against defined hiring metrics.
  • Drive end-to-end hiring operations: JD design, screening, interview logistics, offers and onboarding.
  • Lead engagement with Fellows/Alumni to convert into staff roles and maintain a convertible talent pool.
  • Own Internal Career Fair planning and execution; measure outcomes and iterate yearly.

Job description

Teach For India is on a journey to reach an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity in our country. Fifteen years into our journey we are a movement of ~5000+ Alumni working at all levels of the education system, who are reaching 1 in 10 children across the country. These Alumni have graduated from our two-year Fellowship Program where they taught in under-resourced classrooms to put ~33,500 low-income children on a different life path. Today, we have ~1000 Fellows and are the largest pipeline of driven, skilled talent into the educational ecosystem in India.Over 16,000 Teach For India students have appeared for the 10th grade board examinations till date, with an impressive 95% pass rate across cities as of November 2024.

In 2022, we embarked on Phase 4, our fourth strategic phase. We have a bold and ambitious ten-year journey ahead of us that aims to grow 50,000 leaders, who will work collectively, and with love, to transform the lives of 1 in 10 low-income children in our regions, through an education that unleashes the potential of self, others and India. In this decade, five key priorities will lead us to this vision.

  • Strengthen our core Fellowship to build strong teacher leaders who provide an excellent and equitable education to our children and continue to do so beyond the Fellowship
  • Scale our impact by strategically introducing additional Fellowships as alternative pathways for leadership development
  • Match the Alumni of our programs at an intersection of their interests and the needs of the system and our children
  • Advocate for key issues that impact educational equity, and engage 3.5% of the population in the movement for educational equity
  • Act collectively with our Alumni to learn about and address key issues in our regions.

Position Summary

Reporting to: Senior Manager - Talent Strategy, Innovation & Operations

Managing: A talent acquisition team of 1 Manager directly, along with 1-2 interns and 2-4 consultants/recruiters in different engagement formats

The Lead, Talent Acquisition will grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity by attracting leaders across sectors to join Teach For India. They will be responsible for sourcing, fuelling, engaging and selecting Teach For India’s talent pipeline, specifically towards program implementation & strategy roles that are best suited for TFI Fellows & Alumni to grow into.

Responsibilities

As a Lead, Talent Acquisition -

1. Program Hiring Strategy & Operations - 40%

  • Build and execute the annual hiring strategy and calendar for Staff role pipelines, with a specific focus on hiring for our 9 Regions and central training roles
  • Own sourcing strategy across channels - direct, referral, campus, digital - against defined hiring metrics (turnaround time, cost per hire, quality of hire, diversity)
  • Drive process efficiency across the hiring funnel: JD design, screening, interview logistics, offer and onboarding handoffs

2. Fellow & Alumni Conversion to Staff - 30%

  • Design and run the engagement pipeline that converts graduating Fellows and Alumni into Staff roles
  • Design and own long term tracking and conversion systems for TFI alumni from various employment structures - across Fellowship, Volunteering and Staff
  • Partner with Alumni-facing teams to keep a live, segmented pool of convertible talent and to streamline communications and engagement of this group towards conversion to roles

3. Internal Career Fair (ICF) - 20%

  • Own end-to-end planning and delivery of TFI's Internal Career Fair - role mapping, employer-side participation, Fellow engagement, and hiring operations from Jan-March annually
  • Measure and report ICF outcomes (participation, conversion to interview, conversion to hire) and iterate year on year

4. Stakeholder Partnership & Reporting - 10%

  • Work cohesively with key stakeholders (Senior Manager, Talent Strategy & Operations; HR Director; Talent Acquisition reporting team, Hiring managers across the TFI ecosystem, headhunters and recruiters, HR Business Partners, etc.) towards strong pipeline efficiency, hygiene and decision making
  • Represent Talent Acquisition in cross-functional planning tied to program hiring needs

  • Manage and coach the team members to ambitious outcomes
  • Driving engagement, growth, and retention of team members
  • Engineering and overseeing a monitoring and evaluation system , coupled with strategic direction, to guide our abilities to continuously improve

As a Lead at Teach For India

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Driving internal alignment and support for Teach For India’s core Programs
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building
Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations
  • 5 years of professional experience
  • Experience of having built and managed high functioning teams to outcomes
  • Experience in driving operations in high pressure, goal driven environments
  • Experience of having collaborated and partnered effectively with a broad range of individuals, both internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and experiences of having taken initiative in the past
  • Previous experience in teaching/education would be an added advantage (not mandatory)
