Job summary

Micron Technology, a world leader in memory and storage solutions, seeks a Firmware Test Engineer in Bengaluru to build and optimize high‑performance controller firmware test frameworks for memory systems. You will evaluate, bench test, and debug firmware for SSD/HDD controllers, triage issues, and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to improve quality, power and performance.

Eight to twelve years of storage test experience and strong Python skills are essential, along with leadership

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years of experience managing the test development team within the storage domain.
• In-depth knowledge of embedded firmware development.

• Technical expertise in storage systems such as SSD/HDD and related technology.

As a Firmware Test Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build groundbreaking high-performance controller firmware test framework for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will assist in the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging, and failure analyzes of firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that will improve performance, while reducing power, latency and SoC (System on Chip) complexity for the target sectors. You can expect to partner multi-disciplinary Engineers seek multi-functional product development issues. You will triage failures, file bug reports, and help the development teams with isolating issues.

Experience / Skills

• 8 to 12 years of experience in managing the test development team within the storage domain.
• In depth knowledge and extensive experience with embedded firmware development
• Expertise in the use of scripting languages, programming tools and environments
• Extensive experience programming in Python
• Technical Expertise in the storage industry in SSD, HDD, storage systems, or a related technology
• Understanding of storage interfaces including ideally PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS
• Experience with NAND flash and other non-volatile storage
• Ability to work independently with a minimum of day-to-day supervision
• Experience with team leadership and/or supervising junior engineers and technicians
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team and under the pressure of multiple priorities
  

AI Proficiency / AI-Enabled Ways of Working

• Proficient in leveraging Micron-approved GenAI tools (e.g., Claude Code, M365 Copilot, GenieLLM) to accelerate firmware development workflows, including AI-assisted code generation, unit test generation, and code review.
• Experience or working knowledge of applying AI agents/agentic workflows to firmware debugging and root-cause analysis (RCA), improving triage and cycle-time efficiency while maintaining engineer-in-the-loop validation.
• Ability to identify and scope opportunities for AI-driven automation in embedded firmware tasks (e.g., test coverage improvement, memory/code optimization, defect analysis) in line with Micron's AI-Driven Product Development and Productivity & AI Foundations pillars.
• Understanding of and adherence to Micron's AI Governance Policy and Acceptable Use Guidelines for Generative AI, including human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated code, security/IP safeguards, and licensing compliance.
• Willingness to continuously upskill on evolving AI tools and practices as part of Micron's AI transformation (e.g., completing assigned AI Proficiency training/Workday modules).
