Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Firmware Engineer to build high-performance controller firmware for memory systems, SSDs, and storage interfaces. You will evaluate, build, bench test, debug, and perform failure analysis, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to improve performance while reducing power and latency.

BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required. 6–12 years of embedded firmware experience with C and assembly is preferred; familiarity with PCIe/NVMe and ARM tools

Qualifications

  • 6-12 years embedded firmware storage/SSD experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong firmware design and debugging experience using assembly and C.
  • Knowledge of PCIe/NVMe interfaces.
  • Understanding of SATA/SAS interfaces (optional).
  • Strong skill in ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse.
  • Knowledge in scripting languages and tools.
  • Experience in storage industry (SSD/HDD) or related tech.
  • Working knowledge of NAND flash and other non-volatile storage is optional but a plus.
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) is good to have.
  • Ability to work independently and lead/supervise.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team under multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and debug high-performance firmware for memory controllers and SSDs.
  • Triage failures, file bug reports, and assist teams in isolating issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers on product development issues.
  • Lead or supervise junior engineers and technicians.
  • Work in a multi-functional team under high-priority schedules.

As a Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build groundbreaking high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will assist in the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging, and failure analyzes of firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that will improve performance, while reducing power, latency and SoC (System on Chip) complexity for the target sectors. You can expect to partner multi-disciplinary Engineers seek multi-functional product development issues. You will triage failures, file bug reports, AI Supported and help the development teams with isolating issues.

Job Responsibilities
  • 6-12 Years in Embedded Firmware Storage/SSD would be a strong plus.
  • Strong firmware design and debug experience using assembly and C programming.
  • Knowledge of mass storage interface protocol PCIe/NVMe,
  • Understanding of storage interfaces including SATA, or SAS (optional)
  • Strong skill in ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse
  • Knowledge in the use of scripting languages, programming tools and environments
  • Experience in the storage industry in SSD, HDD, storage systems, or a related technology.
  • Working knowledge of NAND flash and other non-volatile storage is optional but plus.
  • Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers (good to have).
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of day-to-day supervision.
  • Experience with team leadership and/or supervising junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team and under the pressure of multiple priorities.
Education Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent required
