Job summary

Guy Carpenter is seeking a talented catastrophe modelling specialist for our Mumbai-based team. This hybrid role requires working at least three days per week in the office and involves data checks, multi-model analyses, and clear communication with brokers and clients.

You will lead model interpretation, manage complex client requirements, and collaborate with analysts to train and upskill the team while developing deep model knowledge.

• A numerate or science/hazard-related degree.
• 5+ years in Catastrophe Modelling / Risk management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
• Excellent IT skills, and
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct checks and edits on client-supplied data. Produce a detailed exposure profiling.
• Perform multi-model analysis (RMS/Verisk/JBA/GC Internal models).
• Correct interpretation and communication of exposure data and loss analysis findings to brokers, clients and reinsurers for renewals and / or RFPs etc.
• Manage large/complex clients with understanding of client requirements.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of the models and manage model uncertainties.
• Maintain regular stakeholder interactions & develop relationships with analysts and consultants for flow of information.
• Independently communicates with brokers and clients to build understanding about client’s reinsurance buying philosophy.
• Be a team player – collaborate effectively and set performance standards.
• Be a technical SPOC for the analysts and plan training and upskilling.

We are looking for a talented and dynamic individual to join our Catastrophe Modelling team at Guy Carpenter. This role is based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

We will count on you to:

• Conduct checks and edits on client-supplied data. Produce a detailed exposure profiling
• Perform multi-model analysis (RMS/Verisk/JBA/GC Internal models)
• Correct interpretation and communication of exposure data and loss analysis findings to brokers, clients and reinsurers for renewals and / or RFPs etc.
• Needs to manage large/complex clients with ability to understand all the intricacies of the client requirements
• Develop in-depth knowledge of the models and manage model uncertainties
• Maintain regular stakeholder interactions & develop relationship with analysts and consultants for constant flow of information on status, exceptions, expectations, forecasts, process changes and new opportunities
• Independently communicates with brokers and clients to build strong understanding about the client’s reinsurance buying philosophy and is considered SPOC for the client
• Be a team player – collaborate effectively with the team by setting standards for performance and motivating to achieve beyond these standards
• Be a technical SPOC for the analysts and also perform the robust two stage review process
• Have a view and information on the skills and knowledge gaps of team and plan for training, cross skilling and up skilling of all team members for current and future needs

What you need to have:

• 5+ years of experience in Catastrophe Modelling / Risk management
• A degree in a numerate or science/hazard-related subject
• Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
• Excellent IT skills, and
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

What makes you stand out?

• Strong academic rigor with degree in Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics or related fields from reputed institution
• Strong knowledge of stochastic modelling, SQL and geospatial mapping tools like ArcGIS will be highly advantageous
• Knowledge of programming languages (SQL/Python/R),
• Familiarity with PowerBI or Alteryx, and
• Knowledge of reinsurance market and concepts
