Job summary

Ecolab is seeking a software engineer to assist in leading development projects through a phase-gate process. The role involves writing substantial code and creating architecture, while ensuring documentation aligns with design standards.

You will participate in requirements gathering and support field testing after development. The position may involve coaching colleagues and guiding testing and lab staff, with focus on robust code quality and project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Writes significant amount of the code that meets project requirements and complies with documentation and design standards. Writes the standard documentation used to translate project needs into software design specifications. Assists in creating overall architecture for various software systems. Corrects defects found through QA software testing and systems testing. Assists in requirements gathering and product definition activities as projects start, and supports field test personnel after development. May coach other engineers, and occasionally provides direction to testing and lab support personnel. Activities address challenging aspects of code, documentation development, and contribute to oversight of software team work product. Education/Work Experience: Typically requires a degree and 5-8 years experience; or no degree and 9-12 years combined education and equivalent work experience (typically 1 year experience = 1 year education). Independence Level/Reports to: Applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Leads projects/research with moderate complexity. May provide coaching and review the work of lower-level professionals. Normally reports to Software Engineering Manager.
