Qualifications

• BE, BTech, MCA, or equivalent with 3+ years of experience
• Strong experience with C++, MATLAB, and Simulink
• Knowledge of modeling concepts including multi-formalism modeling and co-simulation
• Familiarity with models of computation and execution semantics (synchronous, discrete-event, continuous-time, hybrid)
• Experience with model exchange standards FMI/TLM/HLA/ED247/DPC
• Proficiency in Python, C++, and SystemC and IEEE Std 1666-2023
• Strong software design, architecture, and system integration skills
• Ability to work on complex simulation architectures with emphasis on performance and reliability

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Software Developer based in India. This is a senior software engineering opportunity focused on advancing sophisticated aerospace simulation and digital engineering technologies. You will design, develop, enhance, and maintain software components within a complex co-simulation environment. The role combines C++, Python, SystemC, MATLAB/Simulink, software architecture, modeling, simulation, and system integration. You will tackle challenging problems involving hybrid systems, multi-formalism simulation, model exchange, and distributed or real-time architectures. Working alongside systems, software, model-based design, and test engineering teams, you will contribute to reliable, high-performance, and accurate solutions. You will also provide technical leadership, influence architecture and design decisions, and mentor engineers while supporting engineering excellence. This role is well suited to an experienced developer who enjoys applying advanced modeling and simulation concepts to complex, safety-focused engineering challenges.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain software components for an advanced aerospace simulation and co-simulation environment.
• Perform quality assurance, bug triage, debugging, and resolution to maintain software stability, accuracy, performance, and reliability.
• Engineer and mature new platform capabilities, including enhancements supporting modern model-based engineering and SysMLv2 integration.
• Apply advanced concepts in Models of Computation and Execution Semantics, including synchronous languages, state machines, discrete-event systems, continuous-time models, and hybrid systems.
• Contribute to model exchange and co-simulation capabilities aligned with standards and technologies such as FMI, TLM, HLA, ED247, and DPC.
• Provide technical leadership in software design principles, architecture patterns, development practices, and system integration.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, software engineering, model-based design, simulation, and test engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Develop and maintain robust, maintainable, and high-quality software using C++, Python, SystemC, and related technologies.
• Apply analytical and mathematical modeling techniques to complex discrete and continuous dynamics problems.
• Contribute to modeling and simulation environments, including model management, model transformation, solvers, and multi-formalism or hybrid simulation approaches.
• Support the development of distributed and real-time simulation architectures where required.
• Contribute to DevSecOps, digital engineering, model-based engineering, and model-based design initiatives.
• Investigate complex technical problems and apply structured analytical approaches to identify effective solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the engineering organization.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, engineering standards, development processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• BE, BTech, MCA, or equivalent technical qualification with 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong professional experience with C++, MATLAB, and Simulink.
• Practical understanding of modeling concepts such as model management, model transformation, multi-formalism modeling, hybrid simulation, and co-simulation.
• Strong knowledge of model-based theory and practice, including abstract interpretation, static and dynamic analysis, modeling and simulation environments, and numerical solvers.
• Good understanding of mathematical formalization and discrete and continuous dynamics modeling.
• Expert-level knowledge of Models of Computation and Execution Semantics, including synchronous, discrete-event, continuous-time, and hybrid approaches.
• Proven experience with co-simulation and model-exchange standards such as Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI), Transaction-Level Modeling (TLM), High-Level Architecture (HLA), Aerospace Data Exchange Standard ED247, and Distributed Parallel Co-simulation (DPC).
• Proficiency in Python, C++, and SystemC, with strong familiarity with IEEE Std 1666-2023.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, architecture, development methodologies, and system integration.
• Ability to work with complex software and simulation architectures while maintaining focus on performance, reliability, accuracy, and maintainability.
• Strong analytical and development capabilities with a structured approach to solving complex engineering problems.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a strong team-oriented mindset.
