Job summary

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is seeking a Design Lead (Secondary Substation) to lead the detailed engineering for protection, control and automation in substation and power distribution projects in India. Responsibilities

• Lead and execute Secondary Design Engineering activities for Substation and Power Distribution Projects with focus on Protection, Control, and Automation.
• Manage end-to-end secondary engineering deliverables compliant with project specs, standards, and client requirements.
• Plan man-hours, monitor progress, and coordinate with primary engineering teams and other departments to ensure on-time delivery.
• Review and approve drawings, protection philosophies, functional design documents, BOQs, and vendor deliverables.
• Design Protection Schemes, SCADA, Control Systems, Wiring Diagrams, CT/VT Sizing, Battery Sizing, and AC/DC Schematics.
• Coordinate vendor evaluation, technical validation, factory inspections, and procurement interactions.
• Lead and mentor Engineers and Draughts persons to meet quality and delivery targets.
• Provide technical clarifications to clients and internal stakeholders; support site execution during installation and commissioning.

Job description

DESIGN LEAD (Secondary) SUBSTATION.

Roles And Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute Secondary Design Engineering activities for Substation and Power Distribution Projects, with a strong focus on Protection, Control, and Automation Systems.
• Manage end-to-end secondary engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs by planning man-hours, monitoring progress, and coordinating closely with primary engineering teams and other inter-departments.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, protection philosophies, functional design documents, BOQs, and vendor deliverables, while ensuring timely submissions and client approvals.
• Perform and oversee the design and engineering of Protection Schemes, SCADA Systems, Control Systems, Wiring Diagrams, CT/VT Sizing, Battery Sizing, and AC/DC Schematics.
• Coordinate vendor evaluation, technical validation, factory inspections, and technical discussions, while working collaboratively with procurement and supply chain teams.
• Lead and mentor Engineers and Draughts persons, ensuring adherence to quality standards, enhanced productivity, and on-time delivery of engineering deliverables.
• Provide technical clarifications to clients and internal stakeholders, resolve design-related issues during project execution, and extend support to site execution teams during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Utilize MS Office for engineering documentation and reporting; knowledge of ETAP, PSCAD, and CYMEGRID will be considered an added advantage.

Qualification:

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Years Of Experience :

• 710 years of experience in Secondary Design Engineering for Substation projects, with expertise in Protection, Control, and Automation Systems.
• Proven experience in designing and reviewing secondary engineering deliverables for AIS / GIS Substations and Power Distribution Projects.
• Strong knowledge of protection philosophies, SCADA integration, control systems, AC/DC systems, and industry standards related to substation secondary engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders, and ensure successful project execution within defined timelines.
• Experience in providing engineering support during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and site execution phases will be preferred.

MUST: Substation Design Experience.
