Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support Protection and Control engineering. You will create electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical and prepare related documents for HV substations.

You will collaborate with Primary, Project Management, and Production teams, and ensure quality through self-review before submission. The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of experience, strong knowledge of P&C systems, and familiarity with IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical tools.
• Strong understanding of Protection and Control Systems for TD/Gen.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Relay configuration and testing is a plus.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Single Line Diagrams and Protection Single Line Diagrams.
• Prepare Panel Layouts and BOMs.
• Create Protection and Control schematics for HV sub-stations.
• Prepare Junction Boxes for CT/VT and load calculations.
• Develop IO Signals lists and Interlocking tables.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve queries.
• Self-review documents before submission to Lead Engineer.
• Generate Preliminary BOM and Mimic boards aligned with drawings.
• Develop Digital Control Protection drawings as part of Digital Substation.
• Configure relays and participate in relay testing when required.

Job description

The opportunity:

You will be a part of the GA Secondary team and support the execution of Protection and Control engineering. Your work involves mainly creating electrical circuit diagrams and supporting documents. We use the AutoCAD Electrical tool for generating the schematics. You will be an individual contributor who would deliver the tasks as per the given inputs and when required need to work in coordination with other colleagues and should exhibit good collaborative skills to complete the task. In the absence of your Lead or in some cases, you will be required to interact with our counterparts to get/clarify queries. You may also interact with other departments like Primary, Project Management, and Production.

How youll make an impact:

• Preparation of Single Line Diagram/Protection Single Line Diagram.
• Preparation of Panel Layout and BOM
• Preparation of Protection and Control Panel schematics for Medium/High Voltage Substation.
• Preparation of Junction Box for CT, VT, and Density monitors, AC / DC Load calculation.
• Preparation of Trip Matrix and IO Signal list.
• Preparation of Interlocking table and schematics for various Busbar configurations.
• Addressing the technical queries raised by the customer during the execution of a project, if required.
• Interaction with various cross-function teams like Primary, Project Management, and Production, when required.
• Self-reviewing the documents before submitting them to Lead Engineer.
• Generating Preliminary BOM by understanding the importance and consequences of releasing it.
• Preparation of Mimic boards in line with SLD and Layout drawings.
• Understanding and preparation of Communication Architecture diagrams.
• Preparation of protection schematics (Trafo, Line, Busbar) when weve integrated protection in LCC . Selection of Bay Control Unit and other protection IEDs.
• Preparation of complete Digital Control Protection drawings as part of Digital Substation (with NCITs, MUs, SAM600 modules, etc...).
• Configuration Relays and Testing of Relays added advantage. Adhering to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Bachelors degree in B.E / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Must have 5 -8 years of experience.
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical tools.
• Very Good knowledge of Protection Control Systems for T D / Gen. Familiarity with codes and applicable standards like IEC, IEEE, ANSI, etc...
• Relay configuration and testing added advantage.
• Ability to work in a team and maintain professionalism.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in both spoken written English language is required.
