Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Lead Rotary Engineer in Chennai, India. The role involves hands-on engineering for machinery packages such as gas turbines, compressors and pumps, and leading technical efforts across FEED projects in refineries and gas processing plants.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering degree, 15+ years of relevant experience, and strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills to coordinate with vendors and multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Graduation in Mechanical or allied Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years related experience; typical range 18–25 years.
• Required lead role experience in medium to large projects in machinery and related equipment.
• Strong knowledge of API standards for rotating equipment and familiarity with PFDs and PIDs.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on engineer for machinery packages (centrifugal/reciprocating gas compressors, gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal pumps).
• Develop technical requirements, specifications and selection criteria for rotating machinery.
• Prepare datasheets, specifications, material requisitions; evaluate technical bids; review vendor documents; coordinate with vendors and other disciplines.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Lead role experience in medium/large projects in machinery and related equipment.
• Apply current API standards knowledge; understand PFDs and PIDs; FEED environment exposure for refineries and gas processing plants.

Lead Rotary Engineer

Responsibilities

• Shall be a hands-on engineer in any one of the machinery packages like Centrifugal and Reciprocating Gas Compressors, Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines and Centrifugal Pumps.


• Responsible for developing technical requirements, specification and selection of rotating machinery.


• Shall have excellent knowledge in API Standards specifically API 610, API-616, API-617, API-618 & API-619. Duties include preparation of datasheets, Specifications, Material Requisition, Evaluation of Technical Bid, Vendor document review and engineering coordination with vendors and other disciplines.


• Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.


• Should have worked in Lead role in medium / large projects in machinery and related Equipment.


• Working knowledge of current API standards for rotating equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, Auxiliary systems, Steam and Gas turbines is a must . Basic understanding of PFDs & PIDs is necessary.


• Good exposure to working in FEED environment particularly for Refineries and Gas processing Plants is desirable.


• Brown field project experience is an added advantage. Shall have Strong leadership, negotiation, communication and people management skills.

• Skills are typically acquired through a graduation in Mechanical or allied Engineering and a minimum of 15 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 18- 25 years.
