Sutherland in Mumbai seeks a Senior Professional: Credit Analyst to support the Credit Research team in evaluating issuers, building models, and delivering credit reports. The role requires strong communication, strong analytical ability, and independently managing tasks in a fast-paced setting.

You will work with portfolio managers to interpret risk-reward, monitor credits, and stay updated on market developments, ensuring rigorous analysis and timely recommendations.

Qualifications

• MBA Finance or CFA/CA or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in credit evaluation and fixed income research
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and have critical reasoning
• Proficiency in Bloomberg, MS Office, Syndication sites, and others

Senior Professional: Credit Analyst

Job Description

• The role is for a position in the Credit Research team, which supports many multibillion dollar asset managers worldwide.
• The team works as the virtual front-end analysts for clients, helping them find value in potential investment opportunities and thereafter, monitor the investment’s performance.
• The candidates are required to have a good understanding of one or many fixed income asset classes, such as High Yield Bonds, Leveraged Loans, and Structured Products.
• Ability to analyze primary and secondary deals in an efficient and time-bound manner and excellent written & verbal communication skills to interact with onsite analysts and portfolio managers are some prerequisites for the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzing issuers via financial analysis, evaluating industry positioning, assessing business, management, and strategy, etc.
• Building and maintaining financial models (historical and forecasts) and other investment related infrastructure supporting our credit recommendations and investments across sectors
• Identifying investment catalysts and business risks, and forming an opinion on the said asset class/credits
• Authoring credit reports/memos, supporting and defending the recommendations in both verbal and written formats with portfolio managers
• Assessing the relative value of investment opportunities by interpreting risk-reward parameters, legal and capital structures, bond covenants, market drivers, and value of available alternatives
• Working with senior analysts to perform ongoing due diligence and monitor portfolio positions and key credits
• Keeping track of relevant news for the portfolio and analyzing potential impact
• Working well under pressure - must be able to remain calm and focused while multitasking in a fast-paced, unstructured, and dynamic work environment
• Team oriented/strong communication - must be able to work with people of diverse skills and personalities toward a common goal of effectively managing large portfolios

Qualifications

• MBA Finance from premier institutes/CFA/CA or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in credit evaluation and fixed income fundamental research
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and should have critical reasoning skills
• Proficiency in using databases – Bloomberg, Microsoft Office, Syndication sites, and others
