Job summary

Epam Systems in Bengaluru, India is seeking a Lead Python Backend Engineer to own the design and delivery of scalable backend systems, with hands-on coding and architecture planning. You will lead architecture decisions, drive best practices, and guide backend development across Python frameworks while leveraging AWS services and modern CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in backend development using Python.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and asynchronous programming.
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and infrastructure design.
• Proficient in working with databases PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB etc.
• Experience with containerization tools like Docker, and orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
• CI/CD pipeline design using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend systems using Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django, Flask).
• Architect scalable and maintainable solutions leveraging AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFormation).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and Frontend to define and deliver system architecture.
• Ensure high standards in code quality, performance, and scalability.
• Mentor junior developers and perform regular code reviews.
• Define and enforce best practices for backend architecture, security, and data modeling.
• Drive technical decisions and roadmaps, aligning with business goals.
• Manage sprint planning, task estimation, and delivery in Agile/Scrum environments.
