Job Overview
The Project Engineer – OPC will be part of Linxon’s OPC–Chennai Engineering Team, contributing to the design and implementation of substation projects. The role involves engineering assignments across multiple projects, ensuring cost‑effective, quality‑driven solutions and compliance with client and Linxon standards.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques and procedures for engineering assignments.
- Provide technical support for installation and commissioning activities.
- Prepare project documentation and tender engineering deliverables within specified timeframes.
- Ensure completeness and correctness of assigned packages and substation systems.
- Conduct inter‑discipline checks and document results.
- Troubleshoot engineering development issues and focus on cost‑efficient system solutions.
- Report and maintain records for all engineering changes; cooperate with the team to assess impacts.
- Ensure compliance with Linxon and client engineering guidelines, standards, and quality across the entire process.
- Create work plans and cost estimates for responsibilities.
- Coordinate technical issues with engineers, subcontractors and suppliers; manage technical interfaces.
- Collaborate with site teams and attend construction sites when necessary.
- Contribute to risk and opportunity registers and communicate observations.
- Prepare technical documentation for equipment specifications as input to purchase requisitions.
- Participate in design reviews, provide input for close‑out reports, lessons learned, and apply best practices to future projects.
- Adhere to Linxon OHS procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in substation design for civil and structural aspects.
- Advanced knowledge of civil design and detailed engineering for AIS & GIS substation foundations and structures up to 400kV.
- Strong pile foundation design skills.
- Experience with site and grading development: grading plans, sections, details, cut‑and‑fill tables.
- Proficiency in site drainage layout, flood‑plain mitigation (SWPPP), stormwater drainage and erosion control plans.
- Road planning: sections, details, culvert and existing road connections.
- Site facilities, soil management, final finish surfacing, and related detailing.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards for substation civil engineering.
- Experience in base, detail civil, structural engineering for GIS or AIS substations for UK utilities.
- Hands‑on use of civil engineering software: STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, L‑pile, AutoCAD.
- Understanding of electronic records management systems.
- High attention to detail and quality.
- Coordination and review of consultant designs and drawings.
