Job Description Summary: Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes service shops, impacts departmental operations, and is responsible for planning and execution. The role has some autonomy but focuses on execution within an operating discipline guided by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required, typically with guidance.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversight and management of front‑line manufacturing employees
- Typically managing hourly employee populations
- Develop conceptual knowledge of professional discipline
- May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in a broad area
- Apply general knowledge of business developed through education or experience
- Understand how own team’s work contributes to the area
- Resolve issues using established procedures
- Consult supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside defined instructions or parameters
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve issues and improve operation efficiency
- Develop strong relationships and serve as interface among Supply Chain functions
- Exchange technical information, ask questions, and check for understanding
- Work with functional managers and key stakeholders throughout manufacturing to generate continuous improvement ideas and spearhead their implementation
- Track and report metrics such as labor hour consumption, work order completion, inventory accuracy, throughput, capacity, and customer complaints
- Establish team goals that meet or exceed quality standards
- Develop and manage operational budget for the functional area
- Implement business unit objectives and manufacturing department goals in each area
- Drive productivity monitoring and improvement while meeting customer commitments in a timely, quality and cost‑conscious manner
- Develop and create training plans to maximize workforce capability
- Lead compliance, as well as Environmental, Health & Safety efforts in support of plant goals
- Promote Kaizen culture and implementation of continuous programs by collaborating with teams, and coach and guide junior engineers/PTLs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 7+ years of shop floor operations or project management experience
- Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing teams and driving operational performance
- Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience working effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders across local and global teams
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to drive solutions and influence outcomes
- Working knowledge of manufacturing performance metrics, operational planning, and production execution
