Job summary

Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing experience and Six Sigma knowledge.
  • Experience with capacity planning, line balancing, and production workflow optimization.
  • Experience designing layouts and production lines using AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing automation and digitization projects.
  • Experience in regulated environments (medical devices, pharma, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and implement productivity improvements.
  • Conduct motion and time studies to establish production standards.
  • Lead process optimization to reduce non-value-added activities and improve throughput.
  • Perform capacity planning and line balancing to support production planning.
  • Design and optimize layouts, workstations, and lines for efficiency.
  • Support NPI with DFM and process optimization.
  • Drive Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma initiatives for productivity gains.
  • Lead manufacturing digitization and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including data collection and AI-enabled inspections.
  • Support automation projects with cobots, AGVs, AMRs and other tech.
  • Develop value stream improvements and monitor key metrics for corrective actions.
  • Collaborate across functions to meet quality, regulatory, and business goals.

The Lead Industrial Engineer will play a critical role in driving manufacturing excellence across multiple GE HealthCare product lines by improving productivity, optimizing manufacturing processes, and implementing modern industrial engineering practices. This role will focus on process optimization, motion and time studies, capacity planning, factory layout design, and the implementation of automation and digitization initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and throughput. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams, the Lead Industrial Engineer will identify opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance process capability, and support continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, and manufacturing flow.
  • Conduct motion studies, time studies, work measurement, and method engineering activities to establish accurate production standards and optimize manufacturing operations.
  • Lead process optimization initiatives by eliminating non-value-added activities, improving cycle times, and enhancing overall equipment and labor utilization.
  • Perform manufacturing capacity planning and line balancing to support production planning and maximize throughput.
  • Design and optimize manufacturing layouts, workstations, and production lines to improve workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturing process optimization expertise.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and support operational excellence.
  • Lead manufacturing digitization and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including automated data collection, AI-enabled inspection systems, and smart manufacturing solutions.
  • Support automation projects involving collaborative robots (Cobots), Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), and other advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Develop value stream improvements through waste elimination and continuous process enhancement.
  • Monitor key manufacturing metrics including productivity, capacity utilization, cycle time, yield, and overall manufacturing performance, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet quality, regulatory, and business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality systems, regulatory requirements, environmental, health, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of Industrial Engineering, Method Engineering, Manufacturing Excellence, or Process Improvement experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting motion studies, time studies, work measurement, and manufacturing process analysis.
  • Strong experience driving productivity improvement, waste elimination, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with manufacturing capacity planning, line balancing, and production workflow optimization.
  • Experience designing manufacturing layouts and production lines using AutoCAD or similar layout design tools.
  • Hands-on experience leading manufacturing automation and digitization projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Automotive, Electronics, Aerospace, or Industrial Manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience working within FDA-regulated and ISO 13485 manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of GMP and medical device manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Industry 4.0, smart factory, or digital manufacturing initiatives.
  • Exposure to MOST methodology or other industrial engineering work measurement techniques.
  • Experience implementing automation technologies including Cobots, AGVs, and AMRs.
  • Hands-on experience with Karakuri (low-cost automation) solutions.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar industrial engineering or quality certifications.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated success leading cross-functional improvement initiatives.
