Job summary

Quest Global seeks an experienced Chemical/Mechanical Engineer with hands-on Fired heater operation and performance experience. The role involves monitoring refinery and petrochemical fired heaters worldwide, analyzing performance, safety, and asset integrity, and reporting deviations to stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in oil & gas refineries, strong heat transfer knowledge, and proficiency with tools like Aspen HYSYS and FRNC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 8 years’ industrial experience in oil and gas refinery units.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid flow, and process fundamentals.
• Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, and process datasheets.

Responsibilities

• Surveil fired heater operation for performance and safety.
• Prepare performance reports covering heater operation aspects.
• Identify abnormalities, perform root cause analysis, and propose remedies.
• Track recommendations and ensure compliance.
• Conduct thermal modeling and performance evaluations for fired heaters.

Job Requirements

We are looking for Chemical or Mechanical Engineer who has good knowledge of heat transfer equipment, particularly Fired heaters with hands‑on experience in both operation and performance monitoring. Candidate should be conversant with safety, environmental regulatory compliance and energy efficiency aspects of Fired heater. Candidate should have basic understanding of various fired heater configurations, applications in various technologies, and impact of key performance parameters.

The job role involves daily monitoring of Refinery and Petrochemical unit fired heaters across the globe related to performance, safety and asset integrity parameters and reporting the deviation to stakeholders. The scope also includes troubleshooting and suggesting performance improvement measures.

Experience in thermal rating and engineering analysis of Fired heaters is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess hands‑on experience in fired heater performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Candidate should have experience in using standard Industry software like Aspen/HYSYS/HeaterSIM/Pro-II/FRNC.

Key Responsibilities

• Surveillance of multiple Fired heater operation simultaneously for performance monitoring on daily basis including safety and integrity.
• Performance report preparation covering the various aspects of Fired heater operation.
• Abnormality identification, carrying out root cause analysis, proposing remedial measures and timely reporting to stakeholders and discussion.
• Tracking the recommendation acceptance and compliance and follow up.
• Perform thermal modeling and analysis for various types of fired heaters used in refinery and petrochemical units.
• Conduct process and thermal performance evaluations to ensure compliance with plant OPEX.
• Utilize simulation software for fired heater simulation and optimization.
• Communicate across various groups including: process, mechanical, and project engineering teams.
• Support troubleshooting and performance improvement activities for existing fired heater systems.
• Able to review the deliverables of engineers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of industrial experience in oil and gas‑refinery units.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid flow, and process engineering fundamentals.
• Understanding of various fired heater configurations, different modes of operation and key challenges in various technology applications.
• Handling heater operations or relevant experience in units which have process heaters as a critical process equipment.
• Ability to interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and process datasheets, GA drawings.
• Good analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Knowledge of API and relevant industry standards will be an added advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in oil and gas industry with process heaters as key components.
• Good to have exposure of working with process simulation tools FRNC-5PC.
• Familiarity with fired heaters troubleshooting and debottlenecking studies.
• Experience in furnace performance evaluation calculations.
• Familiar with other types of fired equipment including boilers, flares, thermal oxidizers, and HRSGs.
