Job summary

PeopleStrong in Chennai seeks an experienced engineer with a BTech to lead process design for RO desalination projects. The role covers pretreatment, membrane design, post-treatment, and related calculations, with emphasis on drawings, data sheets, and RFQ evolution.

You will collaborate with PLC engineers for FAT/SAT, prepare control philosophies, and liaise with clients. Willingness to travel for site work is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Experience in RO/desalination process design and related pretreatment/post-treatment.
• Proficiency with vendor software for RO/UF design.
• Ability to perform hydraulic, pressure drop, and line sizing calculations.
• Prepare RFQ, scopes of work, datasheets for valves, pumps, etc.
• Develop control philosophy and O&M manuals.
• Coordinate with PLC engineers for FAT/SAT.
• Participate in technical meetings and document MOM.
• Willingness to travel long/short term to project sites.
• Experience in industrial projects' process design.

Responsibilities

• Design RO and desalination process systems.
• Prepare preliminary processes for pretreatment, RO, chemical dosing, sludge treatment, and post-treatment.
• Perform membrane design with vendor software.
• Conduct hydraulic calculations and line sizing; create PFD/ P&ID/HFD.
• Prepare RFQ, scopes of work and datasheets for equipment.
• Develop control philosophy and O&M manuals.
• Collaborate with PLC engineer on FAT/SAT logic.
• Attend technical meetings and coordinate with clients.
• Evaluate vendor documents for technical clarity.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Job Description

• 1.Experience in Process design & engineering related to RO and desalination water system.
• 2. Preparation of preliminary Process design for: Pretreatment (includes Lamella, DAF, Media filters, Ultra- filtration, etc.), Reverse Osmosis (includes Brackish water, Sea water and Wastewater), Chemical dosing system, Sludge treatment (includes Centrifuge, Filter press, Thickener, etc. ) and Post treatment (includes lime stone filter etc. ).
• 3. Proficiency in RO membrane design and UF membrane design with vendor software (Wave, IMS Design, Toray DS, Inge etc)
• 4. Selection of process technology based on the feedwater characteristic and capable of doing the process calculations, membrane selection, filters selection etc. Hydraulic calculation, pressure drop calculation, line sizing ,Preparation of layout, PFD, P&ID, HFD, electrical load list and power consumption at different at different conditions with respect to tender/Contract guaranteed parameters.
• 5. Prepare enquiry documents (RFQ), scopes of work, datasheets, etc for valves, pumps and other engineering items with proper selections required for RO desalination projects.
• 6. Preparation of Control philosophy, O&M manual for the execution of the project.
• 7. To interact closely with PLC engineer to help in logic development for FAT and SAT.
• 8. Participation in technical meetings, decision making, preparing MOM and coordination with the clients.
• 9. To prepare technical evaluation and comparison of documents furnished by different manufacturers and get the technical clarity from the vendor independently.
• 10.Candidates should be flexible to travel long term / short term to various project sites and client / consultant offices based on the project requirement for document approval and resolution of site technical issues during execution.
• 11.Experience in Process design & engineering related to Industrial Projects.
• 12.Preparation of preliminary Process design for: Oil removal system(API, TPI and DAF) , Biological Treatment(SBR, ASP, MBBR and MBR) Pretreatment (includes Lamella, DAFF, Media filters, Ultra- filtration, etc. ), Reverse Osmosis (includes Brackish water, Sea water and Wastewater), Chemical dosing system, Sludge treatment (includes Centrifuge, Filter press, Thickener, etc. ), Conventional DM Plant, CPU and Evaporator.
• 13.Selection of process technology based on the feedwater characteristic and capable of doing the process calculations, membrane selection, filters selection etc. Hydraulic calculation, pressure drop calculation, line sizing ,Preparation of layout, PFD, P&ID, HFD, electrical load list and power consumption at different at different conditions with respect to tender/Contract guaranteed parameters.
