Job summary

Barclays Global Serv. Cent in Chennai is seeking a Lead Operations Analyst to build and maintain infrastructure platforms supporting applications and data systems, with a focus on reliability, scalability and security.

You will drive incident management, automation, and cross‑functional collaboration, applying ITIL practices and data‑driven decision making to align IT with business goals. This role is based out of Chennai.

Qualifications

  • Load balancing and traffic management using F5/VIPRION concepts.
  • Experience with Infoblox DNS/DHCP and proxy technologies and basic automation/scripting.
  • Diagnostics with tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, traceroute, nslookup, and dig.
  • Strong enterprise networking knowledge and ITIL-aligned incident lifecycle.

Job Description Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.

Accountabilities
  • Build Engineering: Development, delivery, and maintenance of high‑quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Automation: Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber‑attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
  • Teamwork: Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data‑driven approach.
  • Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.

Lead Operations Analyst Overview

Basic Skills
  • Load Balancing: Working knowledge of F5 LTM/GTM, VIPRION, and application traffic management concepts including VIPs, pools, SNAT, and SSL/PKI.
  • DNS/DHCP & Proxy: Experience with Infoblox DNS/DHCP, proxy technologies such as Zscaler or Bluecoat, and basic automation/scripting.
  • Troubleshooting: Proficiency with diagnostic tools including Wireshark, tcpdump, traceroute, nslookup, and dig for network and application connectivity issues.
  • Networking: Strong expertise in routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP, and switching technologies such as Cisco ACI, NX‑OS, VLANs, VPC, HSRP/VRRP, Catalyst, ASR, and CSR.
  • Security: Hands‑on experience with enterprise firewalls, preferably Fortigate, with exposure to Checkpoint or Juniper advantageous.
  • Monitoring & Tools: Experience with network monitoring and automation tools such as Spectrum, NetBrain, Observe, and Ansible.
  • Strong years of experience in network operations or support within large enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to operate in 24x7 global support models with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Change, and Problem Management, and tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Strong foundation in enterprise networking concepts, infrastructure operations, and incident lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business‑critical network services in a controlled enterprise environment.
Desired Skills
  • CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent service management knowledge.
  • F5, Fortigate, Cisco ACI, or cloud/network automation certifications would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • BFSI domain exposure is advantageous.
