James Douglas is seeking an AVP – Technology (Product Development) to lead the design and development of next-generation in-house platforms powering new business and product initiatives.

Responsibilities include architecting scalable, low-latency distributed systems, driving end-to-end SDLC, and transforming vendor-led development into a strong internal product engineering organization with a culture of innovation.

Qualifications

• 14–17 years of experience in exchange technology, product engineering, fintech, or high-performance tech environments.
• Hands-on expertise in Java and strong system design skills.
• Proven leadership of 10+ engineers and architecture oversight.
• Experience driving engineering transformation and reducing vendor reliance.

Responsibilities

One of our clients, a leading financial market infrastructure institution and India's premier commodity derivatives exchange, is looking to hire an AVP – Technology (Product Development) to lead the design and development of next-generation in-house platforms that will power new business and product initiatives while strengthening the organization's internal engineering capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build scalable, low-latency, fault-tolerant distributed platforms for new product initiatives
• Lead end-to-end software development lifecycle activities including architecture, development, deployment, and production support
• Drive the transition from vendor-dependent development models to a strong in-house product engineering organization
• Actively contribute to software development, code reviews, architecture decisions, and resolution of complex technical challenges
• Establish engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, code quality standards, and agile delivery processes
• Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
• Collaborate with business leaders, product teams, and stakeholders to align technology delivery with product objectives
• Drive platform modernization and adoption of modern engineering frameworks, tools, and development practices

Qualifications:
