Job summary

Adani Group seeks Head of Section - Mechanical for container terminals to ensure longevity and optimal performance of mechanical assets through scheduled, predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Master's degree) as required.
  • 8–10 years experience in container terminals.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management: Ensure availability and reliability of conveyors, berth equipment, yard equipment, MBUs and DSS.
  • Budget Control: Oversee engineering expenses within Mechanical Services budget.
  • Project Management: Monitor on-site activities from completion to deployment.
  • Maintenance Optimization: Implement preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize failures.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote safety culture and training programs; adopt technology.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain IMS records and address audit findings.
  • Continous Improvement Process: Update SOPs with findings for improvements.
  • Digital Mindset: Leverage digital and AI to enhance business.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor teams for growth and safe workplace.

Purpose/Objective
  • Head of Section - Mechanical is responsible for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of mechanical assets through scheduled, predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance.
  • This role involves managing inventory and budget efficiently, fostering a safety culture, and arranging necessary training for the team to maintain high standards of operation.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Equipment Management: Ensure the availability and reliability of various mechanical equipment, including conveyors, berth equipment, yard equipment, MBUs (Material Bulk Unloaders), and DSS (Dry Support Ships), to maintain high performance standards.
  • Budget Control: Oversee and manage engineering expenses to adhere to the budget allocated for Mechanical Services within Engineering.
  • Project Management: Monitor on-site project activities to facilitate a smooth transition from project completion to operational deployment, ensuring effective use of assets and resources over the long term.
  • Maintenance Optimization: Implement best maintenance practices to minimize repetitive failures across all mechanical equipment.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote a culture of safety and proper methods through the adoption of technology and comprehensive training programs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain IMS (Integrated Management System) records, address audit findings promptly.
  • Continous Improvement Process: Regularly review and update Business SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to incorporate improvements based on findings.
  • Digital Mindset: Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.
