  • Manage spare parts inventory and control NMI to reduce waste.
  • Ensure adherence to preventive maintenance (PM) and safety standards.

Job description

Purpose/Objective
  • This position is responsible to oversee the maintenance of Coal Handling Plant equipment, ensuring high availability and reliability through effective monitoring of key performance indicators.
  • Lead the maintenance team in activities including calibration, vibration analysis, operation of the ACSU, and execution of work orders for plant integrity.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Section Head Coal Handling Plants Maintenance Maintenance Management: Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans in collaboration with peers and HOD ensuring healthiness for availability of CHP systems.
  • Oversee Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTR), MTP & OE to maintain high equipment availability.
  • Ensure calibration and vibration analysis activities to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Auto Coal Sampler Unit (ACSU) to guarantee accurate sampling.
  • Ensure generation of work order for painting, structural strengthening, and corrosion mitigation to maintain plant integrity.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), risk analysis and job safety analysis (JSA) to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Inventory and Spare Parts Management: Ensure spare parts inventory availability, focusing on vital, essential, and desirable equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Monitor Non-Moving Inventory (NMI) to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Ensure utilization of Photo mate for documenting inventory through images, enhancing traceability and accountability.
  • Oversee the integrity and maintenance of the stores inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Budget Management: Review and manage the maintenance budget for CHP area to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Monitor and control departmental expenditure while identifying cost‑saving opportunities without compromising on safety or operational efficiency.
  • Provide financial reports and forecasts to management for informed decision‑making.
  • Business Sustainability: Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA, Six Sigma, ABEM and LAKSHYA guidelines within the department.
  • Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Oversee adherence to P1 (breakdown) defect compliance and ensure timely rectification.
  • Ensure adherence to preventive maintenance (PM) compliances for all equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Manage departmental compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards to uphold corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Digitization and Automation: Lead and execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
  • Review and implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
  • People and Team Engagement: Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the maintenance team.
  • Drive and enhance employee engagement and retention across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high‑performance culture and ensure cross‑skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioural trainings.
  • Ensure proper succession planning in the team.

  • Preferred Industry: Experience in the power generation, mining, or heavy industrial sector with a focus on coal handling systems.
