We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Data And Analytics Specialist
In this role, you will:
- Governance and Committee Memberships : This change-the-bank (CTB) role requires a strong self-starter with strong change delivery skills who enjoys the challenge of delivering change within tight deadlines. Structured and organised analyst with strong data and business analysis skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A good understanding of the control requirement surrounding data handling will be advantageous in this role. Assess the operational risks as part of the analysis and implementation planning and execution in conjunction with delivery managers
- Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Requirements Elicitation & Documentation: Elicit, capture, and document functional and non-functional requirements from business stakeholders, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Data Mapping & Specification: Map business needs to system/data requirements; write data mapping specifications and ensure clarity for both upstream and downstream processes. Process Analysis & Improvement: Analyze existing business processes, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and propose improvements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with IT, data engineering, data modelling, and operations teams for the design, development, testing, and deployment of solutions. Agile Participation: Participate in agile planning and ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support business change through effective stakeholder engagement, communication, and training/demonstrations as needed. Solution Design Support: Validate feasibility, identify dependencies, and ensure alignment with architectural constraints.
- Documentation & Traceability: Produce and maintain high-quality functional and technical specifications, ensuring traceability from requirements through model output. Change & Volatility Management: Manage requirement volatility, change control, and documentation to ensure alignment and minimize rework.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Support evidence preparation for audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring robust documentation and traceability. Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Key Deliverables : High-quality, unambiguous functional and technical specifications that reduce rework and accelerate development.. Comprehensive data flow and dependency documentation for multi-risk and dual-platform ratings. Clear mapping of regulatory requirements to internal implementation, ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
- Effective cross-team coordination, ensuring alignment between modelling, data, and engineering teams. Robust change control and documentation management, supporting traceability and audit requirements.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Influences a cross-functional/cross-cultural team and the performance of individuals/teams against performance objectives and plans. Endorses team engagement initiatives, fostering an environment which encourages learning and collaboration to build a sense of community.
- Creates environments where only the best will do and high standards are expected, regularly achieved and appropriately rewarded; encourages and supports continual improvements within the team based on ongoing feedback.
- Develops a network of professional relationships across GBM Data & Analytics and our stakeholders to to improve collaborative working and encourage openness - sharing ideas, information, and collateral. Encourages individuals to network and collaborate with colleagues beyond their own business areas and/or the Group to shape change and benefit the business and its customers. Support the PMO and delivery managers in documenting accurate status reports as required, in a timely manner.
- Functional Knowledge: Strong requirement gathering and elicitation skills; ability to translate business needs into clear data/technical specifications. Experience with process modelling tools (e.g., Visio). Involvement in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensuring requirements are met during testing.
- Understanding data modelling, data mapping, and data flows; ability to interpret technical artefacts. Domain knowledge in finance, risk, or financial instruments (preferred). Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to articulate complex issues simply.
- Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies/tools (e.g., JIRA, versioning). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
