Role Overview

Nomura is looking for Backup & Storage Engineering team member who will be part of Nomura’s Backup & Storage systems. The candidate will be responsible for design, engineering, & automation of Nomura Backup platform on-premises & on the Public Cloud.

The role is based out of Mumbai, India and will be part of the Nomura Service India Pvt Ltd.

With an objective to ensure a highly automated, scalable & user-friendly Backup platform, the candidate will work on various projects & deliveries in the Backup & Storage work stream.

Required Experience & Skills

• Overall experience of 5-7 years working on design and implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible & Python to provision Infrastructure resources
• Proficiency in automating system configuration and deployment using Ansible playbook
• Good working experience & hands‑on knowledge of AWS (3-5 years). Certified AWS Solution Architect – Associate preferred
• Hands‑on experience with Git and CI/CD pipeline (Gitlab/Jenkins) to integrate automation workflows and streamline deployment.
• Strong programming/scripting using Python
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Experience on Backups / storage systems is an added advantage
• Documenting system designs & process workflows
• Clear & precise communication

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, maintain, and optimize IaC scripts and modules using Terraform for provisioning and managing Backup cloud resources on the Public Cloud
• Configuration Management: Design, build, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and custom modules to automate server provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments.
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (and potentially Jenkins or others) to facilitate automated software deployment, testing, and integration.
• Scripting and Automation: Utilize Python to automate complex tasks, build custom automation libraries, integrate various tools via APIs, and streamline operational processes.
• Version Control: Manage all infrastructure code and automation scripts using Git and maintain repositories within GitLab, ensuring version control standards and collaboration best practices are followed.
• Collaboration and Troubleshooting: Work closely with development and operations teams to define infrastructure standards, troubleshoot complex issues efficiently, and ensure seamless software releases.
• Documentation and Best Practices: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all automated systems and processes and drive the adoption of DevOps and SRE best practices.
