Job summary

UST is seeking an experienced Backend Lead Engineer in Hyderabad to guide design, development, testing, and deployment of backend services and data integrations. You will mentor teams, drive REST APIs, microservices, and secure coding practices while overseeing cloud-native operations and CI/CD workflows.

You will lead with expertise in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core and PostgreSQL, while collaborating with architects and product owners to deliver scalable, high-performance enterprise solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core and RESTful API development.
• Experience building microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL and data modeling experience.
• Hands-on with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and secure coding practices.
• Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.
• Proficient in debugging, performance tuning, and telemetry-driven ops.
• Familiarity with observability tools and modern cloud-native patterns.

Responsibilities

Summary

UST is looking for an experienced Backend Lead Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of backend services, APIs, gateway functions, and data integrations. This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring strong expertise in .NET technologies, distributed systems, cloud-native development, and mentoring engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend solution design and implementation using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
• Design and develop secure, scalable, and high-performance REST APIs and service interfaces.
• Maintain and enhance the Cortex Semi Gateway while integrating heterogeneous acquisition and orchestration systems.
• Drive PostgreSQL database design, query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Establish coding standards, code review practices, automated testing frameworks, logging, and health monitoring.
• Diagnose and resolve production and integration issues using telemetry, debugging, and data analysis techniques.
• Support containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes, along with CI/CD automation.
• Mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and facilitate knowledge transfer across teams.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable enterprise solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and RESTful API development.
• Experience building microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience in PostgreSQL.
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
• Hands-on experience with unit, API, and integration testing.
• Strong working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Excellent debugging, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Athena, SDP, DAP, or gateway integrations.
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana for observability and monitoring.
• Exposure to Python and Shell scripting.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators and CRDs.
• Understanding of software supply chain security, SAST, SCA, and SBOM practices.
• Experience working with scientific, imaging, or data-intensive platforms.
• Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies.

Work Model

• Hyderabad office location with 4 days per week onsite.
• Travel may be required for onboarding, PI Planning, workshops, and major project milestones.
