Job summary

UST in India is seeking an experienced Lead Performance Test Engineer to define and drive performance testing across critical applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and optimal system performance.

You will mentor engineers, formalize non-functional requirements, and integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with architects, developers, DevOps, and stakeholders to deliver measurable improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in performance testing and engineering.
• Strong expertise in JMeter and LoadRunner; exposure to NeoLoad is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and ability to write and optimize complex DB queries.
• Solid understanding of application architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with monitoring and APM tools (AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
• Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and drive tasks to closure.

Responsibilities

Lead Performance Test Engineer Department: Quality Assurance / Engineering Experience: 10+ years Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Lead Performance Test Engineer to define and drive performance testing across critical applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and optimal system performance. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in performance test strategy, execution, and root-cause analysis, the ability to formalize non-functional requirements and SLAs with stakeholders, and a track record of mentoring engineers and establishing best practices across a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall performance testing strategy, approach, and framework across projects, including elicitation of non-functional requirements, SLA formalization with stakeholders, and realistic workload modeling
• Lead the design and development of complex performance test scripts and scenarios based on business and technical requirements
• Prepare, manage, and validate high-volume, production-like test data across multiple modules and environments, including large-scale data construction, backup-restore, and replication where needed
• Execute and oversee load, stress, endurance, spike, and scalability testing using industry-standard tools
• Write and optimize complex DB queries to validate data integrity and analyze backend/database performance
• Conduct deep-dive root-cause analysis on performance bottlenecks across application, database, and infrastructure layers
• Analyze and correlate results across tools, and present detailed performance reports with clear, actionable recommendations to leadership
• Collaborate closely with architects, developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to resolve performance issues and drive system tuning
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous performance validation
• Mentor and guide junior/mid-level engineers on performance testing best practices and tools
• Proactively identify risks, track dependencies, escalat... blockers early, and provide timely, clear status updates to stakeholders
• Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to performance testing tools, processes, and frameworks

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in performance testing and engineering
• Strong expertise in JMeter and LoadRunner (exposure to other tools such as NeoLoad is a plus)
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and the ability to write and optimize complex DB queries
• Solid understanding of application architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices
• Strong experience with monitoring and APM tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, AppDynamics, Dynatrace)
• Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills
• Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive tasks to closure with minimal supervision

• Experience mentoring and leading a team of testers/engineers
• Scripting expertise (Python, Java, SQL stored procedures) for test automation and tooling
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for monitoring and collecting performance test metrics
• Exposure to Kubernetes/containerized environments for performance testing
• Exposure to healthcare payer, claims, or other regulated-domain systems
