Job description

Who are we:

Core Insurance Platforms (CIP) is Zurich’s global capability responsible for building, running, and evolving core insurance technology. We set a unified, scalable operating model—covering governance, standards, architecture, service delivery, and reuse—so our business units can deliver at speed and scale.

CIP is the strategic steward of Zurich’s Guidewire ecosystem, aligning platform roadmaps to business strategy while driving stability, modernization, reduced supplier dependency, and long term cost efficiency.

India delivery center is one of our global delivery and capability hub. We bring together experts in AI, engineering, analysis, quality, and architecture to deliver product & process solutions, application run services, change and transformation initiatives, and centralized platform services across both on prem and Guidewire Cloud environments. Our teams operate from multiple global delivery centers, supporting Zurich’s business units worldwide.

As a Lead Guidewire Developer, you are accountable for technical ownership of Guidewire solutions across one or more domains. You combine deep technical expertise, solution leadership, and operational accountability to ensure Guidewire platforms are stable, scalable, compliant, and aligned to enterprise standards.

This role goes beyond individual delivery to own technical direction, quality, and reliability for assigned areas, while guiding senior and junior engineers and acting as the primary technical escalation point.

Key responsibilities:
Platform & solution ownership:
  • Own the technical design and implementation of Guidewire solutions across one or more of the following domains:
  • Policy Center
  • Integrations, APIs, and decoupled services
  • Ensure solutions maximize out of the box (OOTB) Guidewire capabilities, approving customizations only when justified
  • Partner with architects to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards
Technical leadership & delivery governance:
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple squads or workstreams
  • Review and govern solution designs, code, and configurations for quality and consistency
  • Set and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices
  • Support estimation, planning, and sequencing of complex delivery initiatives
  • Act as the technical authority during delivery trade offs and risk decisions
Integration & non functional excellence:
  • Own integration architecture and implementation quality for assigned domains
  • Ensure non functional requirements (performance, scalability, reliability, resilience) are designed, tested, and met
  • Guide teams on cloud native patterns, DevSecOps, and observability practices
  • Ensure solutions are production ready and operable at scale
Production ownership & operational accountability:
  • Lead root cause analysis for severe or recurring incidents and drive permanent fixes
  • Own reduction of defect leakage, repeat incidents, and change related failures
  • Partner closely with ADM, QE, and SRE teams to continuously improve platform stability
Stakeholder & cross functional collaboration:
  • Work closely with Business Systems Analysts, Product Owners, and BU stakeholders to:
  • Shape solution options
  • Define realistic scopes and delivery approaches
  • Translate complex technical considerations into clear, actionable guidance for non technical stakeholders
  • Mentor Intermediate, and Junior Guidewire Developers
  • Guide engineers on solution design, problem solving, and platform best practices
  • Build technical depth and reduce key person dependency within teams
  • Drive creation and adoption of reusable components, accelerators, and blueprints
  • Reduce duplication and long term cost through reuse and simplification
AI Experience (Mandatory):

Candidates must demonstrate practical AI experience in at least two of the following three areas:

  • AI for Customer or Business Value
  • Proven use of AI tools or solutions to improve productivity, quality, or outcomes, or to deliver measurable value to customers or stakeholders.
  • AI in Day to Day Operations
  • Active use of AI to enhance personal or team effectiveness (e.g., productivity, development, testing, analysis, documentation, or workflow optimization).
  • Tangible involvement in enterprise AI initiatives, such as platform adoption, innovation programs, governance, enablement, or scaling AI across the organization.
  • Candidates must be able to clearly articulate concrete examples and outcomes.
Required skills & experience:
  • 6-10+ years of Guidewire development experience
  • Strong expertise across multiple Guidewire products (PC, CC, BC , Jutro etc)
  • Strong experience with complex integrations and distributed systems
  • Proven experience managing of technical delivery across multiple teams or modules
  • Strong understanding of P&C insurance processes and regulatory context
  • Experience owning production stability and operational outcomes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP) delivery and operations
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD, and observability tools
  • Leading large scale Guidewire programs or multi country implementations
  • Working in regulated, multi-business unit enterprise environments
  • Prior experience contributing to platform standards or architecture forums
  • To build an AI-first GCC that serves as a resilient global technology hub where every role is designed to leverage AI from day one, continuously redefining how work is done and delivering step-change efficiency and value for the enterprise.
