Qualifications

• ISO 26262 and functional safety lifecycle knowledge.
• Experience in software safety and embedded software (C/C++, AUTOSAR).
• Familiarity with model-based development and safety analysis tools.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation and communication skills.
• 4+ years in functional safety engineering in automotive domains.
• CFSP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver functional safety compliance for software across Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
• Develop software safety concepts and derive safety requirements from system goals.
• Ensure traceability from safety requirements to software implementation.
• Perform and review safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, DFA, CPA) for software components.
• Support ASIL decomposition and allocation across architecture.
• Ensure ISO 26262 adherence throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain Safety Plan and Safety Case.
• Lead safety activities across MPU/CPU/OS/Networks; mentor engineers.
• Lead safety audits and assessments.

SENIOR FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ENGINEER.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Delivery of functional safety compliance for software engineered within Digital Platform across the range of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles
• Develop software safety concepts and derive safety requirements from system-level safety goals. Requirements.
• Ensure traceability from technical safety requirements to software implementation.
• Perform and review Software safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, DFA, CPA) for software components.
• Support ASIL decomposition and allocation across architecture.
• Ensure adherence to ISO 26262 throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain software safety work products (Safety Plan, Safety Case, etc.).
• Support software integration and testing activities for safety-critical features.
• Work closely with system engineers, hardware engineers, and software engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on functional safety best practices.
• Support safety audits and assessments.
• Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
• Lead Functional Safety activities across MPU’s, CPU’s, Operating Systems, Communications, Base SW and Application SW
• Mentoring Functional Safety Chapter members and coaching different Domains and Chapters on Functional Safety
• Relevant experience in AUTOSAR, ASPICE, FFI.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 and functional safety lifecycle.
• Strong experience in Software Safety
• Experience in embedded software development (C/C++, AUTOSAR).
• Familiarity with model-based development and safety analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Minimum 4+ years in functional safety engineering, preferably in automotive or similar safety-critical domains. Good verbal and written communications.
• Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
• Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) or equivalent.
• Experience with ASIL decomposition and software architecture for safety.
• Understanding of Linux and Service oriented architecture.

Tools: Familiar with Reliasoft FMEDA, FMEA, FTA, ISO Standards
