Job summary

Alten in Bengaluru seeks a seasoned Functional Safety Engineer to lead the safety lifecycle for E/E systems, including FSC/TSC and ASIL classification.

You will own safety analyses, define safe states, and coordinate with global teams to ensure traceability using ALM tools in a complex automotive environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree with automotive background and strong domain knowledge.
• Experience with ISO 26262 Functional Safety lifecycle is required.
• Experience working with OEMs and suppliers is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive functional safety lifecycle for E/E systems from concept through production and operation.
• Develop and lead Item Definition, HARA, Safety Goals, and ASIL classification.
• Develop and review Functional and Technical Safety Concepts (FSC/TSC).
• Define, allocate, and manage safety requirements for FSRs/TSRs, HW and SW.
• Lead and review safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, FMEDA) and interface risks.
• Define safe states, fault reactions, and degradation strategies for chassis/ADAS handover.
• Support safety verification/validation (MIL/SIL/HIL, fault injection).
• Coordinate safety activities with global teams and ensure end-to-end traceability.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive functional safety lifecycle for E/E systems from concept through production and operation
• Develop and Lead Item Denition, HARA, Safety Goals, and ASIL classication
• Develop and review Functional and Technical Safety Concepts (FSC/TSC)
• Dene, allocate, and manage FSRs, TSRs, HW and SW safety requirements
• Lead and review safety analyses (As needed): System FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, and interface-related risks
• Dene safe states, fault reactions, and degradation strategies for chassis and ADAS handover scenarios
• Support ,as needed, safety verication and validation (MIL/SIL/HIL, fault injection)
• Own and contribute to Safety Case Case development
• Perform safety impact analysis for design changes, calibration updates, and eld issues
• Act as the primary safety interface for system, hardware, software, ADAS, validation, and vehicle integration teams
• Coordinate chassis and ADAS safety activities with global teams across regions
• Ensure end-to-end traceability of safety work products using ALM tools (Polarion, DOORS, Codebeamer),as applicable
• Track, escape, and resolve safety related risks
