Job summary

Staples India is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to design and build scalable, high-performance applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, and cloud-native architectures.

You will collaborate with product, UX, backend and QA teams to translate requirements into robust, responsive solutions for a modern eCommerce platform. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, driving architectural decisions, and improving reliability and performance in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full stack development with emphasis on Java, Spring Boot, React, and TypeScript.
• 2+ years designing distributed, event-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Proficiency with microservices, REST APIs, queues, and streaming tech.
• Experience with Micro Frontends, API gateways, or headless commerce.
• Proven experience building scalable distributed apps in enterprise settings.
• Strong knowledge of databases, APIs, and modern dev practices.
• Agile teamwork and delivering high-quality software on time.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer with strong experience designing and building scalable, high-performance applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, and cloud-native architectures. This role will play a key part in shaping both frontend and backend solutions for our modern eCommerce platform, improving system reliability, application performance, API integration, and secure enterprise-grade digital experiences. You’ll work closely with Product, UX, backend and frontend engineering, architecture, and QA teams to translate business and design requirements into responsive, maintainable, and scalable applications. We’re seeking someone who can contribute hands-on across the stack, solve complex engineering problems, and influence technical decisions that support long-term platform growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead the design and development of scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript patterns.

• Guide junior engineers and participate in architecture reviews, system design discussions, capacity planning, and technical decision-making.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full stack development experience with emphasis on Java, Spring Boot, React, and TypeScript.
• 2+ years designing distributed, event-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience working in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Proficiency with microservices, REST APIs, message queues, and streaming technologies.
• Experience with Micro Frontends, Headless Commerce platforms, or API gateways.
• Proven experience building scalable, distributed applications in an enterprise environment.
• Solid knowledge of databases, APIs, and modern development best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to work in Agile teams and deliver high-quality software on time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, microservices, API gateways, and distributed backend services.
• Experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications on cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with micro frontend architecture, design systems, component libraries, and frontend platform modernization.
• Understanding of observability, log analysis, browser diagnostics, backend troubleshooting, and tools such as Splunk or similar platforms.
• Experience with automated testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, code quality tools, and release readiness practices.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers, model full-stack engineering excellence, and contribute to technical leadership within the team.
• Proven ability to take ideas from concept to delivery and explore technologies that improve customer and engineering outcomes.
